We've been Voting the Wrong Way ... Vote the #RankedChoice-Way (the Way @HasanMinhaj introduces as he Breaks the Spell of #ElectionDelusion) | @WordHippo @ThoughtCatalog @usaGov

'The word that describes that method' (below-hyperlinked to Hasan's edu-taining explanatiainment (whoa ... 'coining' two portmanteaux in a row ... overload?)) is built on an even-deeper source ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...

"Ranked-Choice Voting" is a voting-system where you assign EVERY CANDIDATE a number (a 1 to the candidate least like you, a 2 to the one who's a little more like you, and so-on through all the candidates on the ballot). And we don't need to go through Washington, D.C., to get 'Ranked-#Choice Voting'; we just need a State Law (like they have in |Maine)!
(or maybe it's the other way `round ... you give 1 to the candidate that's most like you, and the candidate with the least votes wins---I'm sure the instructions they give you at the poll-booth will clarify this)
The word “Rank” (i.e. #Ranked #Ranking #Ranks #Outrank #RankAndFile #Rank) is built on ancient words that mean either "to Turn, Bend" (a Circle, Ring, something Curved, Social Division, Class of Persons, High Station in Society, a Relative Position) ...
... or "to Move in a Straight Line" (like Plant-Life that is |Vigorous, Luxuriant, Abundant, |Copious; Large, Coarse-->|Excessive, Un|pleasant-->Corrupt, Loathsome, |Foul). #Rankly #Rankness #RankFolly

Hasan's explanation also uses/explains a few other words:
Democracy (same base as Democrats, but our system is still supposed to be a Republic), |Plurality-|Rules (NOT Majority-, but more like Biggest |Minority-), the phenomenon known as |Boston, Represent, Vote, Elections, Unconstitutional #Winner-Take-All Two-|Party System, Candidate,
Party-Politics (or Negative-Partisanship ... they don't Like their candidate, they just Hate the Other party more! e.g. the way most Republicans HATED Donald J. Trump until he won a 'plurality' in their party ... at which time the all immediately 'bent over' ... to "kiss the ring," guys; I don't know any other reason they'd 'bend over' 😏), Polarization,
|Scared (that--if the Lying Sociopaths don't |Compromise their Values & just 'Go-Along to Get-Along' with their political parties' Extremism--that party will Cancel them without a second thought), Electoral College; Joe Biden (Absent-Minded) vs. Bernie Sanders (who seems to be all-there), but Biden "will Beat Trump like a Drum"; Democrats "Have a Big Tent";
Progressive, Chaos, DissentNo Matter which Side of the |Aisle You're On, We're ...
... Headed to FlavorTown!!

Hasan nailed my problem down when he said, "You can't afford to waste your vote, so you stop voting for the candidates who reflect your values and you start voting for the candidate you think can win." I really feel that Trump "is not the right man for the job." But--according to my survey-results on iSideWith--Trump is the candidate whose "values" most match mine (well, second-to "American Solidarity" party's Brian Carroll's values).

Hasan says, "57% of us (a 'majority'?) want to vote for a Third-Party candidate, but (since we all think third-party votes are 'wasted' on losers) we treat 'people who plan to vote Third-Party' like 'people who lock their babies in hot cars.'"

That's why (even though my Values most match THREE OTHER CANDIDATES) I say I'm going to vote for Joe Biden. And I am going to vote for Joe (and not Jo, sorry; not because 'he represents me,' but mostly because I Hate Trump), unless Oklahoma (or any state whose legislators you can contact) enacts a Ranked Choice vote (when I'll still vote for Joe ... just not as much as Jo or -a few other third-party candidates).
