Fellow @Quora-man's appreciation of @Jason_Aldean's 'Proclamation of his Hillbilly #Dower' | @CMT

|That word| seems important; so I found out a little more about |that word| (below-linked to the Quora-post about Aldean's country-song with the especially scandalous lyrics (which I try to quote below)) and share my findings with you below---maybe I'll add some notes beneath (and/or you might start/continue the discussion in the comments).

The word |Dower| sits at the peak of the high tower above the proto-word *do- "to Give," which evolved through ancient words that mean "Gift, Endow, Marriage Portion."

To Keep Up on My 'Research,'

on 'instagram' (or 'pinterest' or etc.), member "other98" shares a frame with two images, one of country-singer Jason Aldean that's captioned "TRY THAT IN A SMALL TOWN," directly above a black-&-white of a Civil War General captioned "I DID, YOU SURRENDERED"

The Quora-post (which features the above-shared image) reminds us that Jason Aldean's Try That in a Small Town was "his ode to white supremacy ... honoring his racist roots."

That reminder inspires me to analyze the song's lyrics to see what "honor" is given to "racism" there (although it's possible that 'the ugliness that got the song's video BANNED from CMT' was more in the images of historical racism it displayed ...)

Anyway, 'the lyrics I find' go

Yeah; the director/producer made the bad choice---not necessarily "racism," but rather 'showing all the bad stuff people do in big cities' without bothering to show "the rigmarole of the big city justice-system as-opposed-to the small town 'taking care of our own'" ... I mean Heck! This is for CMT (where I recently saw a music video about a man who's glad to go to prison for what he did to the guy who was harassing a hitchhiker the man picked-up)!
"YOU KNOW YOU'RE A REDNECK WHEN ... You offer to give someone the shirt off your back & they don't want it.... You've used a toilet brush as a back scratcher.... You can entertain yourself for more than an hour with a fly swatter... You wonder how service stations keep their restrooms so clean... You keep a can of Raid on the kitchen table... You take your dog for a walk, and you both use the same tree ... You've been involved in a custody-fight over a hunting dog.... You go to the stock car races and don't need a program.... The Salvation Army declines on your mattress.... The biggest city you've ever been to is Wal-Mart.... You think a hot tub is a stolen indoor plumbing fixture.... You thought the Unibomber was a wrestler.... Your house doesn't have curtains, but your truck does.... You think a quarter horse is that ride in front of K-Mart.... You missed 5th grade graduation because you had jury duty.... You've asked your preacher, "How's it hangin`?" ... You think fast food is hitting a deer at 65 mph.... Your grandmother has "Ammo" on her Christmas list."

Before I reviewed the lyrics (when I was just judging from what the Quora-user had said about it---that it was 'honoring Jason Aldean's racist ancestors'), I was reminded of Jeff Foxworthy ("If ... then You Might Be a Redneck") who comments that 'He's not just born a redneck, he's also married into them!' (i.e. his 'dower' & his wife's 'dowry' both include "Redneck blood.")

And--whether you're proud- or ashamed of your heritage--you need to know about it, because you're bringing it with you into whatever relationship you get!
