@BillClinton Affirms the #BullShite that @TheDemocrats Swallow about #TheBuck that Stops at the @POTUS (#TheBuckStopsHere) | @Wikipedia @UCO_MCOM @Farlex

'Those words' (below-hyperlinked to the Wikipedia-page that explains the phrase (made famous by President Harry S. Truman) "The Buck Stops Here") are built on an even-deeper source ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...

The word “Buck” (referring to the responsibility-icon) calls back to the |Poker-rules in which the Dealer held The Buck (usually a buck|horn-handled Knife)—The Buck he could 'pass' to the next player if he didn't-want-to/couldn't Deal
(hmm ... Etymonline gives The Buck a different 'rule in Poker'—The 'buck' is any inanimate object, usually [a] knife or pencil, which is thrown into a jack pot and temporarily taken by the winner of the pot. Whenever the deal reaches the holder of the 'buck', a new jack pot must be made. [J.W. Keller, "Draw Poker," 1887]).
That sense of "Buck" (the |Male |Deer) is built on ancient words that mean He-|Goat (also slang for Fashionable Man–root of the given name (& the nickname & the surname) "Buck"–or for "the Lowest of its Class" (ie #BuckPrivate)).
The Dollar-Bill sense of “Buck” comes from Native Americans'- and early America's European Settlers'-use of Buck|skin as a unit of |Trade. | #Bucks #BigBucks
The action-word “Buck (like a Bronco)” is built on the idea of Leaping like a |Male |Deer. #Bucking #Bucked
The word for the the Sawhorse is built on ancient words that mean |Trestle (translated from a word that literally means "Buck").
The word “Bullshit” (the term for Eloquent & In|sincere |Rhetoric (which Stinks) ... spelling 'shit' with an -e (the British spelling) to 'euphemize' it to get past Twitter-censors ... I'm too creative 🙄) is built of #Bull + #Shit ... tho I've heard/imagined that 'the actual shit of actual bulls' was Useless |Manure (as opposed to the shit of the |Cow (ie Female Cattle), which is effective |Fertilizer for |Crops)). | #Bullshitter #Bullshitting ... is it #Bullshitted or #Bullshat?
"Bull" might also be built on ancient words that mean False Talk, Fraud, Trivial (probably-false) |Statements (and possibly Deception, Trick, |Scheming, |Intrigue, |Nonsense), as well as the 'Male |Bovine'-sense soon extended to apply to the males of other large animals (built on words that mean either |Roar or "to Blow, |Swell");
the |Papal |Edict-sense is built on the word for the Seal used to seal the Document, 'that sense of Bull' built on ancient words that mean Much, Great, Many (a root also associated with Swelling, Bumps, |Blisters). | #Bulls #Bulling #Bulled
And "Shit" is built on ancient words that mean "to Cut, |Split" (as one Separates one's |Dung from one's Body, or as one might have to |Shear it from the Horses one |Mucks-Out ... roots that make this word 'a cousin of Science & Conscience' ... NOT AN ACRONYM! even though its absence from most 'respectful publications' might indicate the contrary). | #Shite #Shitting #Shits #Shitted ( #Shat isn't a real word)

What brought that up: I'm still 'slowly watching' the CNN-coverage of the 2020 Democratic National Convention (I'll get to the RNC later ... unlike Stephen Colbert! 😡 ... but I digress ...)

and yes, former-President Bill Clinton does appear. He mentions 'The Buck Stops Here,' here assigning it a slightly-different meaning (the one I'm sure 'we all know'): when the buck stops, the President is 'left holding The Bag.'

And I guess Clinton was right in that Trump 'doesn't admit' he's to-blame & 'tries to pass the buck' to others (or 'totally dismiss the buck and expect it to go away'), but ... no; every few minutes the Convention will mention "hundreds of thousands of deaths," and it's almost like a "klaxon" alerting us to the emergency need for 'someone to Take The Buck, because the one who has it now Can't Deal!'

But–for as long in the future as people are going to remember the COVID-19 Pandemic–who do you think is going to be 'holding The Buck'? the people who caught bats to sell in the Chinese wet-market? the guy who contracted the disease and brought it to America? any of the millions  of Americans who refused to 'wear masks & social-distance & wash their hands frequently & stop touching their faces' out of some misconceived "patriotism"? the CDC? Senate Majority-Leader Mitch McConnell? Vice-President Mike Pence?

No! No one but President Donald Trump! (no matter who he tries to blame for it)
