Why are the #Sides (Political, Anatomical) called #Right & #Left? I ask @Ecosia @biblestudyorg @CompellingTruth; @SimonWhistler also explains

'Those words' (below-hyperlinked to a web-search that supports Ecosia's tree-planting) is built on an even-deeper source ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...

The word “Side” is built on words that mean “Long (like a person's- or object's |Flanks), |Late” ( |Soiree).
The word “Right” is built on words that mean “Good, Proper, |Fitting, Straight (not exactly meaning ' Opposite of Left,' but a synonymous word because the right-hand is typically the Better, More-|Dexterous hand).”
The word “Left” (referring to 'the side Opposite the Right') is built on words that mean “Weak, Foolish, |Lame, Paralyzed, |Worthless, Twisted, |Crooked, Friendlier (Euphemism to avoid invoking the Unlucky Forces associated with the Left-|Hand—see Sinister), |Considered |Conspicuous, the Better one (another Euphemism—like other words that mean Desirable)” or " |Limp, |Dangle, Crawl, |Slink."

Before I even look at the search linked above, Etymonline's listing of 'Left' tells me where the political meaning comes-from; but–before I look at that–I remember that it's well-known to us Christians that Lord Jesus Christ is enthroned "at the right hand of Our Father in Heaven."

And then I remember Jesus telling how His Sheep will be on His Right Side, and 'the goats' (who rebel & separate from the herd) will be on His Left before they are cast into the outer darkness where there will be weeping & gnashing-of-teeth ... or am I mixing up a few of His parables?

Then the political-party description has nothing to do with the members' correctness or dexterity, but originates from the French National Assembly of 1789 where The Nobility sat on the President's right and The Third Estate (below The Clergy (First Estate) & The Nobles (Second)) sat on the left.
