You've Heard of #RedFlags (& maybe even #PinkFlags & #GreenFlags, explained by @HuffPostLife) you see in Dating Profiles, but @MASHABLE is helping us find #BEIGEflags now | @NicoleMichele5
The phrase |Red Flags| indicates Signs of Danger (from when such Flags were Flown as a Symbol of |Defiance on the Fields- & Seas of Battle.
I haven't really heard of |Pink Flags|, but HuffPost says they are "|Subtle |Indicators that you might Not be a Fit in a Relationship (but Possible Matches feel like You & They can probably Work-Through)." HuffPost also defines |Green Flags|---Signs of a Good Partner (Clear Communication, your Comfort in their |Presence, etc.)--probably inspired by the "Green Flag" of Racing, |Signaling all the Competing Racers to Go!
But |Beige Flags|? They indicate ... well, it's probably pretty obvious what #Beige indicates; but MASHABLE explains it so much better (at that link).
The word |Beige| stands on ancient words that mean "the Natural Color of Undyed Wool (Yellowish- or |Brownish-Gray)."
on which are also-built #RedFlag #GreenFlag #PinkFlag
#BeigeFlag
What are some of those 'indicators'? I don't have any experience with them (so I'm probably carrying many of them), but I'll ask around---starting with the resources that inspired me:
- Red Flags
- photo where they're holding a baby, captioned "Not my baby!"
- the phrase "I'm looking for someone who doesn't take themselves too seriously"
- or "not looking for any drama"
- posting too many shirtless pics
- men holding fish
- the phrase "good vibes only"
- if they majored in a joke school (and not 'an actual school that people have a low opinion of,' like a Bible College; but 'hard knocks' or 'life' etc.)
- men who say they never message first (so if women don't message them the women won't match with them)
- someone writes "because apparently that matters" after their height
- pinning their whole personality to 'a love of' a common favorite food & drink
- having only one photo
- the phrase "I don't know why I'm here."
- a little too "hungry for adventure"
- the phrase "looking for my partner in crime"
- poor-quality profile photos
- bragging about- or requesting sarcasm
- choosing to answer certain 'dating app'-prompts
- the phrase "Work hard, play hard"
- facts like "I have a house" or "I have a car" (hmm, and 'a full wardrobe' and 'food everyday' and 'regular bathing'?)
- trying to get you to follow them on social-media
- anything about politics
- too many emojis and/or typos
- giving you their Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) letters (INFP, ESTJ, or some other combination of either of those types' letters (it's early ... your four letters are 'either I or E, either N or S, either F or T, & either P or J')---personality indicators theorized by two self-taught (i.e. not-quite "licensed") psychometrists)
- photos of them with exes
- cringey words (which MASHABLE lists)
- being outright negative
- having trust issues (which MASHABLE explains how to see)
- a shoddy- or absent bio
- tired pop-culture references
- if "I workout" is given as a personality trait
- too much nostalgia
- sounding overly pretentious
- Pink Flags
- limited opinions on things (not caring where you take them to eat, what you take them to do, etc.)
- a different political- or religious belief
- untidiness ... or maybe over-tidiness
- not texting often enough ... or maybe texting too much
- a lowering in affection-level
- unmatched love-language (they're 'acts of service' while you're 'physical touch,' for example)
- Green Flags
- the ones I already mentioned
- Good Communication
- Comfortable Company
- Beige Flags
- references to extremely mainstream sitcoms (that "everybody" likes, so it doesn't really say anything about you-personally)
- writing whether chocolate belongs in the fridge or the cupboard
- writing that they'll probably love their dog more than they'll love you
- lots of gym-selfies & gym-references
- using puppies as a personality trait
- mentioning spreadsheets, excel, cryptocurrency or grammar-skills
- "I'm overly competitive about... everything."
- jokes about 'not wanting to be on that dating-app'
- using only photos that don't clearly identify you (i.e. photos of you along with friends and/or family)
- and if you can think of any other 'Dating Flags' or any other 'indicators' (for each of the flags' lists), share in the comments!
