Hearing @USATODAY mention these State-Laws, Ted Mosby & Robin (Scherbatsky?) answer with a Salute & call out, #Corporal Punishment :-P | @NLM_NIH
The story is linked through the adjective/rank below.
The word “Corporal” is built on ancient words that mean "Head (possibly influenced by the Latin for 'Body,' a Corporal being Head of a Body of troops ... though--for the adjective--the root means 'Body'; making #CorporalPunishment mean 'Punishment of the Body')."

In case the USATODAY-link is broken---it tells us that Colorado could become the next State to do something a couple dozen States have yet to do---outlaw corporal punishment in public schools. Those States (numbering 31) are New Jersey, Massachusetts, Hawaii, Maine, District of Columbia, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New York, Vermont, California, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Alaska, Connecticut, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Oregon, Virginia, South Dakota, Montana, Utah, Illinois, Maryland, Nevada, Washington, West Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Mexico.
Meanwhile, only TWO States have made it illegal in private schools 😱
