I expected "two genealogies" to mean 'one through Mary & one through Joseph'; but no, both The Gospels' genealogies appear to be 'through Joseph' (one going back to Abraham (important because of the blood-covenant), one going back through Noah to Adam (important because of the royalty imputed by 'the begetting')).

... Hmm; the 'one through Mary'-link talks about "Mary & Joseph being patrilinear-cousins," but the chart below clarifies that they're cousins several-times-removed!
