'That nation-name' (below-hyperlinked to Llewllyn's exploration of possible connections between the Twelve Tribes & the 12 signs) is built on an even-deeper source ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...
The name “Israel” #Israeli #Israelite# is from the Hebrew ישראל (yisra'el) meaning "he that Striveth (he |Fought, Contended) versus God" (in Genesis 32:28, where The Bible's Jacob (son of |Isaac, son of Abraham)–on his way to make peace with his brother |Esau–Wrestled with a man who could not overpower him and–asking for a blessing from the defeated man–found out the man was actually God).
