@DrJoeHanson shows us that It's @OkayToBeSmart about Your Eyes' #ColorCones - that 'Pigment' is just a #Figment (of your Imagination)

|Those words| (the #Cones--our eyes' color-sensors--and the #Afterimage---the way our brains see colors where there used to be ... he explains it better) seem important; so I found out a little more about |those words| (below-linked to the video where Dr. Hanson brought |those words| to our attention) and share my findings with you below---maybe I'll add some notes beneath (and/or you might start/continue the discussion in the comments).

... and I have to mention that a lot of help (a share of revenue, extra topics from magazines & advertising, etc.) comes from WowApp: Using the Wowism Community's Fairness to Prevail over Economic Greed

To Keep Up on My 'Research,'

The word |Cones| probably sits at the peak of the high tower above the proto-word *ko- "to Sharpen," which evolved into ancient words that mean "Whetstone, Stone, Pine Cone, Spinning Top, a Solid that's generated by the Revolution of a Right-Angled Triangle upon one of its sides as an axis."
The word |Afterimage| is obviously the compound of After & Image.

A fellow 'Smart Person' (i.e. frequent watcher of Okay to Be Smart) expressed surprise at Dr. Hanson's decision not to say "Color is just a 'Pigment' of your Imagination."

The word (which 'Pigment' was the smart person's "clever pun"-on) |Figment| is perched high above the proto-word *dheigh- "to Form, Build," which gathered support from many other words to give us today's meanings-of-the-word.
just like #Cone #ConeShell #ConeFlower #IceCreamCone
#Conic #Conus #Afterimages #Figments #Figmental #Figmentary

Dr. Hanson's diagram of THE ENTIRE COLOR-SPECTRUM as our eyes' receptors see it---degrees of White-to-Black, -of Red-to-Green, & -of Blue-to-Yellow

Color isn't 'a thing'---it's like wind, 'the motion of a thing through another thing' ... the 'other things' absorb or reflect certain "Unique Wavelengths of Electromagnetic Radiation in one narrow part of the Electromagnetic Spectrum."

These wavelengths are received (as signals ... I'm getting a very 'MATRIX-code' vibe here ...) by three kinds of "Cones" in our eyes---the Short, Medium & Long. (I don't know if Dr. Hanson even mentions 'the Rods' ... maybe they add a level of complexity he'll guide us to when we're ready...).
