@MarvelStudios introduced the #InfinityStones (which @Marvel introduced first) - #Infinity #Stone #Finite #Infinite #Infinitely #Infinitesimal #Infinitude #Infinitive #AdInfintum

(... and The Soul Stone is--might be explained in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR & -ENDGAME)

The word “Infinity” is built on |Not, |Opposite of (or In-) + Definite, |End (or Finish).
The word "Stone" is built on "to |Thicken, |Stiffen" (or |Curdles, Becomes |Hard, |Heap, Fat, |Tallow, |Pebble, Wall).

  • The Infinity Stones (all outlined on the Marvel Cinematic Database ... except for the Soul Stone—possibly because it hasn't yet been created 'in this branch of the Multiverse (of Madness?)'
  • Space Stone (a.k.a. Tesseract)
    • basically an infinite energy-source
  • Mind Stone (a.k.a. Chitauri Scepter)
    • essentially a mind-power magnet—of-course giving its bearer the power to control people's minds, and strengthening the influence of their mind on reality (seen when Loki 'used the Scepter' to fire blue energy beams)
  • Reality Stone (a.k.a. Aether)
    • giving its user the power to manifest matter, convert matter into dark matter, and to convert energy from host bodies
  • Power Stone (a.k.a. Orb)
  • Time Stone (a.k.a. Eye of Agamotto)
    • allowing one to have ... a different mobility within the area of space-time (letting one go back in time a few moments (or even longer) and/or to see the several (to several-million) possibilities to which a different decision may lead.
  • Soul Stone (a.k.a. ... good reason to rent/go-see/buy AVENGERS: ENDGAME)
    • holds the power to resurrect dead souls and to disintegrate the living, and contains a pocket dimension (a wide landscape of shallow water underneath an orange sky) where one can communicate with the souls of the dead

... or something like that. Or not.
