I get the feeling I've just done what most ex-Scientologists did that started them on the pathway out of Scientology---I looked at 'how things should end up at the far end of the bridge' without understanding 'the changes that have to occur earlier on the bridge' ... 

Leah Remini actually 'admits to this' (sort of) when she says she (and other Scientologists) would answer processing questions with not 'the truth' but rather 'the answer that would move her to the next level (rather than having to pay for another session).' (Sort of like when make claims in a job-interview just 'to get the job' and not necessarily 'to inform the employer of your actual capability-level.')
