My Realization that Atheists Actually Love God MORE than Christians Do | @StLukesOKC @RyanGeorge

I'm sure that 'most atheists who see that title' are probably going to dismiss it as "another mind-trick Christians play (on themselves) to convince Christians that atheists--tho undeniably correct in all their proposed facts--are wrong"; but it's not. The 'God' that atheists love is "the one that actually #exists," not "the fictional character whom Christians call 'God.'"

See, I'm a Christian; and--tho I consciously know that God is 'the entirety of all #existing #Existance'--'an image of Big Beardy (a cross between Charleton Heston & Anthony Hopkins & Hank Williams Jr. & Laurence Olivier)' pops into my head whenever I hear "God."

It seems that 'that image' is "what people imagine they're talking-to" when they 'thank God & ask God for gifts' in their prayers.

That is the 'God' that atheists don't believe-in!

'The word "Exist"' (below-hyperlinked to some study or discussion on 'the thing that Christians are talking about when they say "God"') is built on an even-deeper source ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...

The "Exist" is built on ancient words that mean |Forth (that's Ex-) + to stand-, make- or be Firm.
#Exist #Existence #Existing #Existed #Existential #Existentialism #Existentially #Preexisting #Coexist

This came to mind while I was watching a recent sermon from St. Luke's United Methodist Church---a sermon in their 'Odd Couple'-series (generally pointing out partners that--like Felix & Oscar--worked well together although they didn't seem to be on the same team).

Maybe the specific strategy is different in each couple's case (today they discussed President Abraham Lincoln & his Secretary of Defense, whom he worked well with by 'admitting that he might be wrong' when they disagreed), but the general strategy seems to stem from Lord Jesus's "Greatest Commandment" (Love 'God' with all your heart, soul, mind & strength, and Love your neighbor as yourself

... if you're focusing on 'your mission from God' (or on your purpose in 'The Existence') and trust that your neighbor is focusing on theirs, it'll work out).
