Oh, I confirmed that news with the news-search linked through #META below; but first I want to understand that word better. And I find you understand words better if you look at 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum)
Zuckerberg says that the name META (and its #METAverse) is built on ancient words that mean Beyond, like the prefix Meta----built on that and -on ancient words that mean "in the Middle" (root of words that mean Together With, |Among, in the Midst of, by Means of ... and the prefix has evolved to mean Changing or Community, in Common with, Pursuing, Participation ... 
(It's also taken on a sense of Higher than, |Transcending, Overarching, dealing with the most Fundamental Fundamentals of (as in Metaphysics)). 
It's developed into slang (e.g. when one #GoesMeta and can be said to #BeMeta like you are when you #GoMeta and be #SOmeta (dude! 😜)) that means Self-Referential (i.e. as if 'having gone One Level Above' and are now Watching Yourself Operate).

  • How long will it be before "Facebook" goes from 'it's former place in the lexicon (the name of an online hangout)' to 'the dustbin of the lexicon'---like MySpace, Yahoo! Groups, Friendster ... I feel like I'm leaving out a lot there ...
  • How long until people are saying 'Are you on META?' (that's the first time I've ever put those words together) the same way they've "always" said 'Are you on Facebook'?...

    Actually, META may just be 'the name of the Internet-Hub that Facebook was becoming' ... Right now (October 29, 2021), 'META.COM' redirects to this page that says ...
