A Connection I Hadn't Made until recently about My Favorite Characters in Theatrical-Series ... but Then There's That Name: #Watcher - #Watch #Watchmen

I just saw HIGHLANDER (Episode 1) again, and I learned-... some stuff I'll put 'below the fold' in case it's a SPOILER; but Something about it that's not a spoiler—it didn't feature Joe Dawson.

But why did that absence stand out for me? Because that character is the same role Merrick, Rupert Giles & Wesley Wyndham-Pryce filled in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, similar-to (but not the same name-as) the one Merlin filled in The Once & Future King (King Arthur &-the Sword in the Stone, -the Knights of the Round Table, -etc.), -the one Obi-Wan Kenobi & then Yoda (and then possibly Qui-Gon Jinn, and Anakin & Luke Skywalker) filled in STAR WARS,

And there are other such characters—you might call them "Advisors," as that was their most-valuable use to the main protagonists; but what they TRULY were was ... reportedly the name of League of Angels who Fell, led by one former-Archangel ...

The word “Watch” is built on “to be Strong, Lively” (Awake, Vigilant).

But What I learned from this
 re-watch of HIGHLANDER was ...

You know 'the Highlander's name' in the TV show is "Duncan McLeod," and in the movie it's "Connor McLeod." Apparently I originally missed Episode 1, so I always thought 'Duncan' was just a name-change Connor did so he could stay off 'the books of history.'

Well, Episode 1 explained that BOTH Connor & Duncan were 'Highlanders'—two separate & equally-immortal Scotsmen. Connor was to Duncan what Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez had been to Connor—a fellow immortal who taught him the rules & trained him to fight for fulfillment of the legend.
