I discuss that future/ancient Jedi-veteran's latest 'Ret-Con' in a paying forum you can access through 'the emboldened link(s)' below; you can make money by joining that discussion, but first I want to teach you about those words. And I find you understand words better if you see 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum into their Foundation)

The name “Obi-Wan Kenobi” ... well, it's said that George Lucas wasn't as good at 'names' as he was at other parts of the story-telling process; but it's rumored that the name was inspired by airplanes' navigational-equipment, the |Omni-|Bearing Indicators, each device operated with a knob (the one on the first device being 'the OBI 1 |Knob ...')
Or it could be that Lucas gave a name that sounds like the words that mean "Father, Training |Robes" in the Kurosawa stories that influenced him; or maybe it's from Japanese words that might mean "Grey-|Belted |Sword-|Belt" (I say 'maybe' because the word for 'Grey' there might also mean "Woof (or |Bark)"); or maybe ...

The many meanings-of-words that might've inspired “Obi” include "Heart, Karate- or |Kimono Belt, Comfort, |Sorcerer's Religion."

#Obi

The many meanings-of-words that might've inspired “Wan” include "Dark, Unnaturally |Pale from Grief, |Thin, Ten-Thousand, a |Myriad, a Great Number, a |Scorpion, to Win."

#Wan

The many meanings-of-words that might've inspired “Kenobi” were probably that opening name tacked onto the end of #Ken---with meanings that include "Knowledge of, to Understand, to Recognize, a Resort for- (i.e. a |Den of-)     Thieves, to Look-around."
#Kenobi
The many meanings-of-words that might've inspired “Kenobi” also include "|Monk, |Cloister-Brother, Common Life."

Looking for 'the reason why Obi-Wan's parents named him Obi-Wan (if that was indeed the name they gave him, and not one given to him by others in his path to Jedi-Masterhood),' I found instead a plant-name inspired by Lucas' adventure-character---the Obi-Wan |Conobea!
