'That word' (below-hyperlinked to the Wikipedia for 'Numeral Systems') is built on an even-deeper source ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...

... and so on ... and so on (with bigger & bigger numbers, adding another word for each additional 'grouping of 3 digits' ... ... I hope 'my repeat-signals' above weren't too hard to figure out ([~] for "as before on this line," ["] for "as above in this column")—it may be a little bit of 'a cipher-puzzle,' or maybe it's a better picture of "what people are thinking when they use large(-ish) numbers." |
I was going to include 'related words' like Numeral, Numeric, Numerical-etc., but the Etymonline-entry for ' Number' didn't mention where they fit ... the closest 'the search "Number"' got was a) the mock-Latin slang Numero Uno for "Number One," & b) the real Latin for the title of the 'book of The Bible' that begins with a census of early Israel (and maybe other Foundations I'm not seeing).
