The word “Wake” is built on ancient words that mean "to be Strong & Lively" (related to Watch ... the Track made by a Moving Water-|Vessel"-sense probably evolved from words for |Hole in the |Ice"; the sense of |Sitting with a Corpse (usually at Night)" comes from the word for Vigil or the |Eve before a Feast).
