On the popular news (mostly 'national broadcast-television news'), it seems like they just report 'the big number' (Total Confirmed Cases ... maybe the totals for Countries or Regions ... possibly the number of Fatal cases)—I guess broadcasters believe they get larger audiences if they encourage panic, ...
... than if they allow audiences to Calm down when they hear about cases of Recovery and get a sense of the true Scale of the danger out there ...
