#HeartOfTheNationCalendar Keeps us Catholics #Concordant with @MySundayMass (and all the weekdays & weekends in between, #Cordially)
I also got a FREE calendar from "Heart of the Nation"---a Catholic Christian
ministry linked through 'the main word' below.
The word 'Heart'---today, we use it to describe "a muscle in the chest that pumps blood
throughout the body"; but The Bible uses that word to translate words with
meanings running from one's 'guts' to one's 'devoted mind.'
The meaning 'Heart of the Nation' refers-to is closer to the 'muscle in the
chest'-metaphor: it's centralized to one or two Local Congregations in Midwest America, but--while it always reminds us all that (if we're not
immobilized) we need to find our own
Local Congregations to fellowship- and 'break bread'- (share Holy Communion)
with them--they 'pump blood to our brains' with their broadcast of the Sunday Mass-Celebration.
Keeping the nation 'concordant, #cordial' (words that are etymologically
related to 'Heart'). Here, I list a few 'root-words' that tie those words into
our lexicon....
The word “Cordially” is built on ancient words that mean Heart (|Heartily, |Earnestly, with Friendliness, |Cardiac, something that |Invigorates, Medicine- or Food- or Drink that Stimulates the Heart).
The word "Concordant" has the same base, with a few differing alterations---'of the Same Mind' #Concordance #Concordantly (of course that's built on #Concord, built on With Heart (a |Compact or Agreement, 'the Massachusetts town' was named for the peaceful dealings between settlers & natives, 'the capitol of New Hampshire' and the Grape-variety are both named-after the Massachusetts-town).
#Concordial #Concords #Concordance (which I just added---though I probably ought to give it its own entry in reference to the STRONG'S-etc. Bible-'wordbooks')
HOTN didn't put 'a preface' on their calendar (like KCM/EMIC did), but they
did add a note at the end:
Days of Grace Catholic Calendar
God's gifts surround us, but the gift of grace becomes part of us. As children of God, we can depend on our heavenly Father for all the spiritual help--all of the grace--we need to do His will. God always wants the best for us! Using your Days of Grace Catholic calendar will welcome the Lord into your daily life. Look for inspiration in the religious Art, a new prayer each month, and a thought for reflection to keep in mind as you go about your days. Celebrate beloved saints on the memorial days shown on your calendar. When you note birthdays, anniversaries, appointments or other events, ask the Lord to bless the people in your life.Heart of the Nation invites you to send your special prayer intentions so that viewers of our Sunday Mass on TV and online can pray with you. Every prayer and gift that you offer as part of Heart of the Nation's faith-community becomes a blessing for others who want to experience Days of Grace.Yours in Christ,

Beneath each month's artwork, 'squip' and Prayer (discussed in listings further below), their calendar also lists 'if one of these types of Liturgicals is happening that
day' and 'what color the Celebrants' Vestments are that day':
- 'Celebration Types'
- Vestment Colors
- White - for celebrations of The Resurrection we Catholics 'expect' (I know the usual words there are more like 'faithfully trust that Lord Jesus leads us to' or something, but "expect" just sounds truer today)
- Green - Ordinary Time, the verdant living-time that builds-up for the bursts of activity of the other seasons
- Red - symbolizing either The Blood of the sacrifice, or The Burning-but-Not-Consuming Fire of God's Love
- Violet/Purple - to signify penance & preparation (Advent, Lent, other such 'life-changing' times) ... some denominations' leaders have tried using Blue to differentiate Advent from Lent, but Catholicism hasn't really approved of it.
- Rose - when we're halfway through the waiting-season, we mark the soon-approaching joy-to-come
- Black - to mark the death & mourning for the survivors
- Months
- January - Matthew 2:6 - Lord Jesus, sought by magi traveling from
afar,
may we see the light of Your love wherever we are. - February - Luke 2:30-31 - Loving Lord Jesus, I pray that all you have
given me
will echo from the heartstrings touched by Your love's melody. - March - Luke 1:37 - Lord Jesus,
greeted as You came triumphantly
toward victory upon the Cross once raised,
I give You thanks for the wondrous hope
of life shared with You, today and always. - April - Mark 16:7 - Risen Savior,
my heart rejoices, for in You, hope springs forth anew
that tears of sorrow or of loss will turn to joy, abundant and true. - May - Matthew 28:17 - Lord Jesus, ascended upon the clouds,
please count me among the faithful who await
Your coming again to gather the flock entering through You, heaven's gate - June - Mark 4:39 - Most Sacred Heart,
filled with compassion, please give me strength whenever I tire.
I offer thanks
that You understand with love greater than my heart could desire. - July - John 6:13 - As a child dependent for every care,
yet given the freedom to choose,
Heavenly Father, please help me at each step
to walk with faith given to use. - August - Luke 1:45-47 - Lord,
grant me patience to listen for Your voice and guide me
through every moment and choice. - September - Luke 6:10 - Tending the seeds You have planted for me, a
laborer in the field,
may I share with others the treasure that faith, forgiveness and love yield. - October - Matthew 18:4 - Lord, when I come in fretful prayer,
You already know what I need or fear.
May Your gentleness calm my heart
and help me to faithfully persevere. - November - Luke 21:25 - For family, friends, and all people
to seek happiness in Your love made known,
Lord Jesus, I pray while giving thanks
that, in You, no one is ever alone. - December - Luke 2:7 - Lord Jesus, in a manger found,
may the lighting of each Advent candle bring
hope that glad tidings will resound
on the holy day of Christmas rejoicing.
And they also (after their 'preview page' of a month of 2022 with a grid of
all 2022's dates---so you can see what day-of-the-week a 2022-date will be,
I guess) added some notes & special dates & guidelines
- 'Holy Days of Obligation'-Masses
- January 1 - Mary, the Holy Mother of God
- May 13 (Thursday) or May 16 (Sunday) - The Ascension of the Lord
- interesting, that His Mother's day- and His passing away-are are 'obligations' while Resurrection Sunday (a.k.a. Easter) is not 🤔
- August 15 - The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
- November 1 - All Saints (well, not a "Holy Day of Obligation" in 2021; but HOTN lists it in their Holy Days of Mass Obligation" ... 🤔)
- December 8 - The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary
- December 25 - The Nativity of the Lord
- Fasting- and Abstinence Guidelines - Lent begins on Ash Wednesday (February 17, 2021) and ends after 40 days with 'Easter' [HOTN uses 'that word' & not "Resurrection-Sunday" ... the church's 'bending to worldly forces'?) on April 4, 2021
- Fasting: From midnight at the end of a person's 18th birthday through midnight at the end of the 59th birthday, fasting occurs on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Three meals are allowed, but two small meals together should be less than the full meal (i.e. 'fasting-day diets' are one meal- and two snacks-every day).
- Abstinence: Starting at midnight at the end of the 14th birthday, Catholics do not eat meat or poultry on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, and all Fridays of Lent. On other Fridays of the year, you may choose a penance more meaningful for you.
Grace gives us the help needed to live in loving response to God's love for us. Art, prayers and thoughts inspired by Scripture in your Days of Grace calendar offer encouragement as you seek to live each day with attentiveness to the Lord's blessings. As you write birthdays or anniversaries in your calendar, please rejoice in the love of family and friends. While jotting appointments on your calendar, remember that the Lord gladly welcomes and accompanies you.
Heart of the Nation depends on donations to provide Sunday Mass and Catholic prayer publications. Please send your prayers to be included at Mass, make an offering if you can (see the address above), and display your Days of Grace calendar to share your faith in God's Love.
