The #2022Calendar from @MyCatholicMass comes with 2-or-3 Messages from the #Chaplain of #HeartOfTheNation | @WaukeshaPatch #Chaplaincy #Chaplains

... or maybe he's just a Chaplain ...

The Patch (Waukesha) introduces us to this 'Chaplain' in an article linked through 'that word' below; but first I want to understand that word better. And I find you understand words better if you look at 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum)

The word “Chaplain” is built on ancient words that mean Clergyman (originally "|Custodian of St. Martin's |Cloak" ... see |Chapel).

Father Mark--who was given the Chaplaincy like it's 'a special title,' though I think I've seen a few other ministers serve as Principal Celebrant ... I'll try and find out later--writes a letter that came with the Calendar,
Dear Friend of Heart of the Nation,

Displaying your 2022 Bless Each Day calendar will welcome the Lord and His love into your daily life. Here at Heart of the Nation, we hope that religious art, prayers, and thoughts inspired by Holy Scripture will make your calendar part of blessed and grace-filled days.

... (information about an enclosed reply-slip) ...

Your Bless Each Day calendar includes Catholic feast days honoring Jesus, -Mary, -Joseph and -the other saints. There is also room on your calendar for you to write birthdays, anniversaries, and any occasions celebrating the people you love. When you note appointments, please know that the Lord accompanies you in His love.

Together, we will continue to help on another grow in faith and gratitude for each day blessed by our loving Lord.

In the Heart of Jesus,
Fr. Mark

On the back of the calendar, Fr. (is that 'Father' or 'Friar'? Is there a difference?) Mark writes,
God answers prayers in the best possible ways. Asking the Heavenly Father to bless each day expresses an openness to possibilities that we may not have considered. Your Bless Each Day Catholic calendar has space to write in anniversaries, birthdays and other occasions that can become wondrously blessed. The religious art, prayer, and a Scriptural thought each month serve as inspiration to thank God for the blessings we notice and those that remain hidden. As we go about our days, the feast days of saints serve as reminders that the saints have found favor with God and gladly join in our prayers.

Heart of the Nation invites you to send your special prayer intentions so that viewers of our Sunday Mass on TV and online can pray with you. When you send an offering, your gift will share your faith that God continues to Bless Each Day.

Yours in Christ,
Fr. Mark

Then--at the end of the calendar (after December 2022, right before 'a preview of January 2023')--we're given ...
God creates each person as a unique part of an eternal plan. Art, prayers, and thoughts inspired by Scripture in your Bless Each Day calendar offer encouragement as you seek fulfillment. Holy Days focus on love of the Lord and the mentorship of saints whose lives glorified Him. Birthdays or anniversaries written in your calendar serve as occasions to celebrate the love of family and friends. While jotting appointments on your calendar, remember that the Lord gladly accompanies you.

God's blessings often come through people in our lives. Heart of the Nation depends on donations to provide Catholic Mass and prayer publications. Please send your prayers to be included at Mass, make an offering if you can, and display your Bless Each Day calendar to share the spiritual comfort and hope of your faith.

Fasting and Abstinence Guidelines

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, March 2, 2022. Easter Sunday is on April 17, 2022.

Fasting: From midnight at the end of a person's 18th birthday, through midnight at the end of the 59th birthday, fasting occurs on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Three meals are allowed, but two small meals together should be less than the full one.

Abstinence: Starting at midnight at the end of the 14th birthday, Catholics do not eat meat or poultry on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, and all Fridays of Lent. On other Fridays of the year, you may choose a penance more meaningful for you.
