Bromance—that's a ... what's the word for 'a word that's a combination of parts of two other words'? I looked that up a while ago, and found the word "portmanteau." I don't remember exactly 'how' (the words I used in the search), because searching just now I find "blend-word"

'Those word' (below-hyperlinked to a page that reveals that 'blend-words are portmanteaus') is built on an even-deeper source ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...

The word “Bromance” is a portmanteau (or blend) of the words "Bro" and "Romance."
The word "Blend" is built on ancient words that mean "to Shine, Flash, |Burn" (Mix (to make |Cloudy), |Bastard, |Mongrel, Troubled, Turbid, |Thick, go |Astray, Mingle Closely).
The word "Portmanteau" (Traveling Case or -Bag for Clothes & other Necessaries) is built on ancient words that mean "to Carry |Cloaks" (the Portmanteau Word (Two Meanings Packed Together in One Word) was coined by "Lewis Carroll" (Charles L. Dodgson) in describing the words he invented in Jabberwocky).
