#Disappointed with the Esteem People Give Me (My 'Auto-Complete Interview') @Bing @Wired #Disappoint #Appoint #Disappointedly #Disappointedness
You've seen those 'auto-complete interviews' (where a celebrity types "Is (their name) ..." or "Has (their name) ever" or something, and the auto-complete fills it out with 'the question that EVERYBODY wants to know)? Well, I thought that was something 'everybody' could do; so I went to Bing & typed-in 'Is Jay Hubbard.'
Before I completely finished typing my name, it was auto-completing with things like "Is Jay Sekulow Dead?" and ... others I'll probably list below 'the even-deeper bases'; but when I finished typing 'Is Jay Hubbard?' the drop-down (on the morning of February 19, 2020) read "Jay Hubbard Is."
Jay Hubbard Is ... #Disappointed.
'That word' (below-hyperlinked to a hundred-some examples of 'what a celebrity auto-complete interview should be') is built on an even-deeper source ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...
The word “Disappointed” is built on words that mean “having one's anticipations or desires Frustrated; |Baffled, |Balked, |Thwarted” (Disappoint).
The word “Disappoint” is built on words that mean “Reverse, |Opposite of (Dis-) + Appoint” (Undo the Appointment, |Remove from |Office, Defeat the realization or fulfillment of (via Fail to keep an appointment)).
The word “Appoint” is built on words that mean “to Come |To a #Point (about some matter ... Agree, Settle ('Point' being from the Latin for a Small Hole made by Pricking)” (to |Put in Charge, Authoritatively Nominate or -|Assign; Duly, Fitly; |Make |Ready; Decide, Resolve, Arrange the Time of (a meeting-etc.)).
