When I think of 'gods,' my mind instantly flies to Captain America's reply to Black Widow when she tells him that Thor is 'one of the gods from Asgard': "There's only one God, ma'am; and I'm pretty sure `e doesn't dress like that."

If I had been there (and Cap. hadn't immediately sky-dived to take care of more-urgent matters), The Spirit of Truth would've compelled me to interject something similar to Loki's reply to Odin about 'not being "gods" by merit of "being mortal"' ... something along the lines of Uncle Ben's wisdom shared with Peter "Spiderman" Parker.

... looking for the video at that last link, I found this video—telling us that the meaning of 'god' has shifted (from what my generation thought it meant in our youth, to more 'the title of any supernatural leader ... maybe The Ultimately Highest Title they ever hope to achieve').

Reminds me how there are many beings who claim to be "gods"—maybe because they imagine they exist "from everlasting to everlasting" (no beginning or ends except themselves), but mostly because large groups of humans worship them as 'gods.'

The word "God" might be built on words that mean "that which is Invoked" (to Call, |Summon to a Sacrificial Offering, |Implore), perhaps to Pour (a Burial-Mound; see Found), perhaps Shine, |Give Light, perhaps the Strong- or Mighty one, perhaps Object of our Worship, perhaps |Giddy, Possessed, Insane, influenced by Zeus ...
but probably originally rooted in The Book of Enoch's name of the Watcher-Angel who became SatanGadreel.

Learning about 'the use of this word as a shortening of the name of a fallen angel (who wants us to think it (and not Our Heavenly Father Yahweh/Jehovah) is our 'highest supernatural guardian'), I start to fear that people will be giving our praise & prayers to a false 'Father Deity.'

Before, I had no problem considering the words 'God' & 'Lord' as "equal to" the truer names of Our Heavenly Father; but the video (at the page linked-to in the previous paragraph) made me think 'I ought to find out "why they started using 'God' instead of 'El' (Eli, Elohim, Eloah)" or "-instead of Jehovah or Yahweh."'

It's pointed-out that none of the writers of the ancient Scriptures ever used the word 'God!'—further proof that the word 'god' may have been the name used by the fallen angel who regarded himself as 'The Highest' and was praised as such when he did big favors for the people to inspire them to worship him (the same way Jesus earned people's worship by going around doing miracles).

I thought about this when reading The Scriptures the other night—the section of Exodus where Yahweh explains that 1) anyone worshiping any god but Yahweh will be utterly destroyed, but 2) Yahweh sends them an angel (whose commands they are to obey) who will protect them & answer their prayers.

I thought about how 'the gods of surrounding cities' were a big "temptation" to the ancient Israelite's ... how a lot of King Solomon's 'scandal' involved "the false gods whom his hundreds of foreign wives would bring-in" ...

I guess the main point one should take (from this knowledge) is that 'God' is merely "a title" intended to refer to "a position in a hierarchy"–the ultimate power-that-be–rather than 'the personal name of that power's current holder.' That's how The Bible justifies 'calling Satan "the god of this world."'
