The word |Hermeticism| (Google Dictionary thinks I'm spelling that wrong ... Hermetic-ism) is the Worship of- or Occult Science/Alchemy that patterned after-Hermes and/or -#Thoth (the Thrice-Great Hermes). 
|Thoth| was the Egyptian god of Wisdom & Magic, Hieroglyphics, and the Reckoning of Time (and is represented as a Human figure with the head of an Ibis ... actually, their Egyptian name (Djehuty or Dhwty, which the Greeks translated |Thoth|) means "they who is Like the |Ibis").
