The fansite says they have no function other than looks (and a few experience-points); but do they have any influence on 'how big a treasure-trove friends can find when they visit' or -on anything else?

Maybe you can find out (and give us an answer in the comments) when you join with the invitation linked through 'that word' below; but first I want to understand that word better.
