#HappyBirthday to Y'all (in the #January27 #BirthdayCohort with @PattonOswalt & #GESmith @gesmithmusic & ALL the #FamousBirthdays @Bing lists) on the #InternationalDayofCommemorationinMemoryoftheVictimsoftheHolocaust @UNESCO | @HolidaysCalendr @BirthdayMates @YourTango @MySundayMass @CopelandNetwork

... or -on 'whichever of these holidays, awareness-dates &/or event-anniversaries you celebrate!'

UNESCO explains our commemoration of #Holocaust-victims in a report linked through 'that word' below; but first I want to understand that word better. And I find you understand words better if you look at 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum)

The word “Holocaust” is built on ancient words that mean "to Burn (Caustic) Whole (Well-Kept)" (originally a Biblical word for 'Burnt Sacrifice Offerings,' later applied to wider Massacres; when they talk about #TheHolocaust, they're usually referring to the Nazis' Mass-Murder of many European Jews in World War II).

I sometimes get a little 'thrill' from realizing that I have the same birthday as several famous people, and enough other people get that thrill from seeing their birthday-cohort (both the currently-famous & the probably-not-yet famous) that I figure it's worth doing 'one of these entries for every birthday' ...

This Day's Birthday-Cohort

Astrologically, their sign is Aquarius ... no matter WHICH stars they were born under: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Kaiser Wilhelm II (last German Emperor), Troy Donohue (whom Rizzo mentioned in "Look at Me, I'm Sandra Dee" (GREASE) and who helped inspire The Simpsons' Troy McClure), comedian Patton Oswalt, Hon. John Roberts, Bridget Fonda, dance-legend Mikhail Barysnikov, Mimi Rogers, Alan Cumming, Lewis Carroll, James Cromwell, Keith Olbermann, singer Tracy Lawrence, G.E. Smith (... and the SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE Band? yes! among many other things), dark comicbookist Frank Miller

... and many others (most of whom are at the 'Birthday-Cohort' link)---

you might comment telling why we should recognize a special one I missed ...

Or maybe you'd like a reminder of 'where you've seen one of the ones we DO mention'; Ask in your comment!

I haven't gotten my Heart of the Nation calendar (which tells me which celebrations we (Catholics) are celebrating, and which color Vestments the clergy are wearing); so I look at my KCM 2022 Calendar, which tells us that today's the day to read Genesis 48:17-50:26 & Matthew 19 (if we're sticking to the plan to read the whole Bible in a Year)
