See Why you shouldn't do your #Chores anymore! (well, @Microsoft says @MediaFeed says #EmmaJohnson @JohnsonEmma says) | #Chore #Housework #WashingTheClothes #CleaningYourRoom #MopTheFloor

When I first started reading the article linked through 'that word' below, I (like many) was thinking, 'What kind of golden-toilet, bottled-water, tea-timing, tee-timing, lazy snob would actually approve of this kind of "outsourcing"?' But Emma explains it---not as 'another advantage of excessive fortune,' but as 'a wise investment to let you focus your energy on "the treasure YOU provide to the world-at-large!"'

I'll summarize the point (and maybe expand on it ... a directory-list, maybe) below the subscribe-bar; but first I want to understand 'that word' better. And I find you understand words better if you look at 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum)

The word “Chores” is built on ancient words that mean "Odd-Jobs of Domestic Work (Turn, Change, Time, |Occasion, Business Affair)" (Noah Webster's "Dissertations on the English Language" tells us the word comes from Char and is still used in #CharMan & #CharWoman (Chamber|maid, |Butler, etc.) ... possibly on the same model as |Cinderella (as Ella cleared away the |Cinders, so the house-staff clears away the |Char)).

Some of single mother Emma's readers comment that she's "shirking her parental duty" when she outsources her chores, but she is paying for the service. I think that--if her children start to 'fulfill the responsibilities'--she will make that 'debt' clear---if they take the responsibility, they do 'get paid'; but if they miss a week, they miss the money that belongs to the person who doesn't miss!

I don't know if Mother Roberts gets into 'paying your children (giving an "allowance") according to their help with the housework"; but she does inform us that there are many-many service-providers yearning to take your orders at Care.com & TaskRabbit!

I also remember SFI's Flexxity---where you can earn money for chores you will do (if you're paid enough 😋).
