I Got @FoxTV's #Lucifer mixed up with 'The Christians' Head-Canon History,' so--just in case You Did Too--I'll Clarify some things ... | @MovieAddictss @Fandom_Lucifer @getFANDOM @MythsExplained

Make Some Money by helping with the Lucifer discussion in the forum linked through 'that name' below; but first I want to understand that name better. And I find you understand names better if you look at 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum)

The name “Lucifer” is built on ancient words that mean "to Carry- or Bear- (Give Birth to) the Light (Brightness)" (the name was also used for 'the Morning-Star (hence the modern versions' surname) or the Daystar' (the planet |Venus, visible from Earth just after Sunrise)).
'Lucifer' was King James's translators' interpretation of the Greek φωσφόρος (Phosphoros) from the Hebrew הֵילֵ֣ל (Helel)---thought to be "Satan" because Isaiah describes him as 'Falling from Heaven' (tho in the original context Isaiah was probably just describing the King of Babylon).

I'm only partway through the fifth season at the moment, so--tho I'll list the difference I've seen so-far below--it's good to see some of the differences Movie Addicts & The Lucifer Fandom Wiki might point out.

I know that Lucifer is featured in many more 'legendaria' than just The Show (also loosely based on a comic-book by Neil Gaiman) & The Bible--he's featured in some other 'dramadies' (SUPERNATURAL, The Chilling Adventures of SABRINA ... maybe GHOST RIDER, maybe Islam), but I'm focused on The Bible (which Mythology Explained mentions) & The Show (which Mythology Explained doesn't mention so much):

Characters TV Show The Bible
Lucifer
  • a son of God (an angel)
  • anxious to hurt God by subverting his will
  • somehow allowed to "just take a break from overseeing his kingdom in Hell ... and somehow able to 'pop back down to Hell & lift any condemned soul there back into the body of a newly dead Earthling
  • strongly 'unwilling' (possibly 'unable'?) to lie, and possessing the ability to force people to tell them their deepest desires---two qualities that differentiate him from his 'evil' twin ...
  • a son of God (although possibly disowned like the Prodigal Son was until he went back home)
  • not wanting to "defeat" God, so much as wanting to be God (or 'to be praised as God')
  • locked in Hell (until released through Armageddon?)
Michael
  • ... who only tells the truth when it's hurtful (e.g. that Lucifer's original name is Samael), and possesses the ability to force people to tell him their deepest FEARS
  • also differs from Lucifer in that his wings' feathers are black (unlike Lucifer's, which are white (when they're not monstrous, dragonlike things)).
  • One of the ArchAngels, I guess
Cain
  • Carries a Mark that makes him immortal
  • Killed his brother in self-defense
  • Carried a Mark that would curse anyone who murdered him (a Mark that he might have passed to his children---the Kenites)
  • Killed his brother in a fit of jealousy (when God enjoyed his brother's burnt sacrifice & -hated Cain's burnt sacrifice)
Amenadiel
  • a son of God (an angel who briefly lost his angelic powers)
  • I don't think they're in there ...
Mazikeen (or Maze)
  • possibly a child of God, but mostly just a servant of Lucifer (a demon, but not a fomer angel)
  • Actually a child of Lilith (who was rumored to be Adam's mate before she ran away and/or he left her for Eve)
  • I don't think this specific character's in there, but the name is the word for a type of demon in Jewish mythology ...
Lucifer's Mother
  • one of the souls Lucifer lifted from Hell
  • I don't think they're in there ...
God
  • LUCIFER's story portrays him (played by 'that Allstate guy' Dennis Haybert) as ... ready to retire (possibly giving humanity that "free will" people are always talking about)
  • the title is assigned to 'the being who created and controls its- (and presumably our-) universe
