The name “Hiroshima (広島)” is built on ancient words that mean "|Broad (or Prosperous or Wide or maybe Generous) |Island" (odd ... they didn't have this definition in Behind the Place-Name, but I found it in Behind the Given Name (where they said it was from the Place-Name)---the Given Name isn't used in Japan (location of that city), but it's a rare Japanese surname ... probably of a family who lives near that city). #Hiro #Jima

I sometimes get a little 'thrill' from realizing that I have the same birthday as several famous people, and enough other people get that thrill from seeing their birthday-cohort (both the currently-famous & the probably-not-yet famous) that I figure it's worth doing 'one of these entries for every birthday' ...
