#MediaMind: #ModernPolitics isn't even on the same #Bandwidth as #ActualGovernmentBusiness (as echoed by @BillMaher's interview of @PeteButtigieg) @SpeakerPelosi @Ecosia @TeamTreesOfficl #Band #Width #Wide

I finally watched last-weekend's REAL TIME with BILL MAHER, and ... I couldn't get through his interview it Presidential-candidate "Mayor Pete" Buttigieg without starting into a 'tirade' about How Wrong almost-All 'Talking Heads' Are about The Purpose of 'Politics' (I realize I'm also misusing that word; using the modern 'publicly behaving so as to convince people to vote that you should hold government-office'-meaning instead of the original 'government business'-meaning).

In summary, they think the reason for politics is "to win," and I disagree. I'm on a bandwidth where the reason for politics (ad-campaigns, public debates, campaign-rallies) is to show the people "who you are." If 'you are' a lot like the people-themselves would be in your position, they ought to vote for you.

That's why people are often duped into the belief that they should vote for "the one you'd most like to go have a beer-with." Because there's probably no one you'd like to 'have a beer-with' more than yourself. And–as Speaker Pelosi loves to repeat (at least on the late-shows I've seen her on)–we live in a Republic, with people chosen to represent us in the government-offices (with 'represent' literally meaning "standing in office in our (The People's) place").
But 'The People' today (at least 'the stray thoughts they spread on today's media') 'broadcast' on the bandwidth where politics is some sort of "giant debate-league tournament (with debate-teams at schools where they write reports about how much money our safety & security & satisfaction are worth)."

No.   Just ... No.

I'm probably misusing 'that word' (below-hyperlinked to an Ecosia-search (the ad-revenue going to 'planting more trees') asking Why Politics are Such an Exercise in Immaturity), but my reaction to 'people's misconception of Politics' was "Pshaw! They're not even on the right bandwidth there!"

Maybe that phrase is 'playing into an Internet-meme (or cliché or something)' there, but the word is built on an even-deeper source ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...

The word “Bandwidth” is an Electronics-term made of the words “Band” & "Width."
The word "Band" (both in this 'Range of Frequencies or Wavelengths' sense & -in the 'Group of Soldiers and/or -Musicians' sense) is built on words that mean "to Bind" (Bond, Bend (Broad Diagonal Stripe on a Coat-of-Arms)).
The word "Width (Wide)" is built on words that mean "Apart, Away, in Half" (Distended, Expanded, Spread Apart, Embracing Many Subjects, Extending Through the Whole-of).
