The word “Prosper” is built on “According to (For) one's Hope or Expectation (Speed)” (Agreeable to one's Wishes).

Many 'evangelists' (most-noticeably 'televangelists') give 'televangelism' a "bad name" by preaching the doctrine of "Prosperity Theology" or "the Prosperity Gospel"—basically that 'God' (and I use that name with full knowledge that it may-or-may-not refer to Our Heavenly Father) doesn't want his followers to suffer any poverty or lack or loneliness or illness or discomfort.

And "they mean well," but 'the road to destruction is paved with good intentions' ... they live expensive, high-class lifestyles at the expense of their many-many donors, whom the televangelists convince to 'donate' (although they'll often give a book and/or recording and/or letter-series 'in exchange for the donation') with the promise that the 'donation' is an "investment" that'll pay 'dividends in Heaven—dividends that will start overflowing into this world (before they die!)'

Obviously, I'm among the many-many 'donors' ("Partners" of 'Kenneth Copeland Ministries' ... which might be better-named 'ΖΟΕ Family Ministries' in order to raise the group above any specific people). I originally 'sent money with the expectation that I'd somehow "buy a tiny percentage of the ministry's profits",' but (of-course) I haven't gotten any "cash" in profits 😢

Yet, you can see (in the etymology above) that 'the prosperity the televangelists help you find' is not necessarily 'the prosperity they flaunt (with huge mansions, private modes-of-transportation, etc.)' Supporters of a ministry 'prosper' the ministry-staff (a good reason to keep 'the ministry's name' connected to the people who lead it ... because their success is the vine we hope to strengthen).

We 'prosper' them, like Lord Jesus Christ's disciples 'prosper' Him—The Branches of The Vine. The Branches of The Vine produce the fruit–seemingly 'of themselves,' but not without The Spirit that flows through them from The Vine.

And The Branches are 'The Vine' to the new Branches they connect to The True Vine. The New Branches prosper The True Vine through the prosperity they produce. As our prosperity prospers The Vine, The Vine becomes stronger and digs deeper to find more of The Spirit to send us purer inspiration.
