#Pentateuch (First Five Books of the Christian Bible ... the Jewish #Torah, traditionally ascribed to Moses) | @BibleStudyTools
'The main word' below is linked to sort-of-a "Table of Contents" of the book (of which the Pentateuch is a major section---the books Genesis, Exodus, |Leviticus, |Numbers & |Deuteronomy); but I feel it's more important to understand that word better. And I find that you understand words better when you look at the other words at the bases of the words you're thinking-of ...
The word “Pentateuch” is built on ancient words that mean "Five + |Implements, |Vessels, |Gear, Books (i.e. Case for |Scrolls ... literally 'anything Produced,' words related to 'make |Ready, Produce something of Utility'---see |Doughty ... not Doughy!)." #Pentateuchal
Bible Study Tools says Jews call 'The Pentateuch' "The Torah," a name built on words that mean "he Taught, Showed" (literally Instruction, Law ... I suppose it's different because Christians think the New Testament/Covenant establishes Rules that mean |Natural Laws no longer |Apply to Yahweh's Children?)
don't know if this pattern holds out 'over ALL reading-research, over ALL history'; but it MIGHT show that people are more-interested in 'what actually happened' than in 'what we hope will happen!' |
