New Gnosis @MercyMe: Being an #Adult among #Children-of-God, Understanding our Need to Believe the Myths #Adulting #Child #Adulthood #Childlike #Childhood

A friend led me to this song (I'm learning the words-to for a little talent-show our friends are performing it). "It's Cornbread Red," my good friend said, "Performing the song A Million Miles Away." I didn't know a) Cornbread Red is sort-of a tribute-band–playing bluegrass-covers of non-bluegrass music–and b) A Million Miles Away is a song on their tribute-album for "(I Can Only) Imagine"-group Mercy Me.

For a long time, I thought Mercy Me were 'secret agents of atheism'—'something one "can only imagine"' being another way of saying 'something that's not real' in common understanding of the words 'real' and 'imaginary.'

But ... that's not so-much 'what they're trying to say' as "the way popular usage of their music (by so-called 'churches') twists their message"—it annoys me that churches frequently portray their song as saying that 'our afterlife will be more-wonderful than anything you've ever seen' when I don't think that's what the song's saying; I think it's saying 'you can put "afterlife" into the "fantasy"-category (and concentrate on it just as often as you need to concentrate on fantasy).'

That, and the words of A Million Miles Away solve a confusion I've been thinking about ... people praying that "Jesus come & heal the wounded, comfort the broken & Take the Wheel," when The Bible (His Message to all mankind) clearly states that He is at the right hand of Our Father advocating for the human-race!

But A Million Miles Away explains that 'He' (His Spirit, His discipleship, His ongoing mission) is "present all around." Reminds me of the teaching that–when we 'present ourselves to Our Father' ("the children" call it 'when we get to Heaven,' Gnostics know it's more-like "whenever we're taking part in God's mission on Earth)–Our Father will identify us as His Son (each of us, all of us at once (a la Voltron? maybe)) ... that there will be no difference between 'us' & Him.

But our Earthly (earthen?) bodies' brains can't comprehend 'being Jesus Christ' (unless we fool ourselves into thinking we can walk on water, fly into the heavens, walk through solid doors, multiply loaves-&-fish, heal & cure with a touch), so we have to tell ourselves we are 'adopted brothers-&-sisters of Jesus Christ'—'on-paper access' to the power of God, but no "real" posession of it (the reason why we 'pray for' favors from God, and (subconsciously) refuse to believe we have any real authority over Earthly things).

sort of the way we can't understand- and refuse to believe-that some people are actually "males trapped in female bodies" or "females trapped in male bodies" ...

The new Gnosis (which might be the same as 'the common Gnosis' ... I forget) is that some people are given some authority ... or maybe some people 'take & keep' that authority & pass it on to their 'disciples' (first, their children; then- or if they don't have children-, their students).

That 'passing of authority' might be what marks one's #adulthood.

The word “Adult” is built on ancient words that mean “to Grow |Into or |Nourish |To” (Mature).
as opposed to "Child," built on ancient words
that mean "Fetus, Infant, Pregnancy, Litter" (Fruit of
the |Womb).
