Newest News from ... a #PopTarts-Box? | @PopTartsUS | #Popped #Pops #Poppa #Tart #Tartlette #Tartly #Tarted #Tartness

The basic news (which I'm sure we all knew before, but 'the box' assures us) is that the Pop-Tarts are 'fully prepared' when you buy them ... yes, you can (and probably should) toast them or microwave them before you eat them; but you can also eat them 'RAW' ('Right After the Wrapper's off'), or take the unwrapped 'tart' and-throw it in the freezer and/or -"STACK" toppings on it!

'That name' (below-hyperlinked to a way to order Pop-Tarts) is built on an even-deeper source ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...

|Pop-Tarts| are #Tarts you #Pop into the Toaster (or Microwave or Freezer) ... originally called Country Squares, before Kellogg got them from Post ... or maybe Kellogg developed |Pop-Tarts| to compete with Post's Country Squares?)
The word |Pop| is either imitative of a Smart Explosive Sound (like that made when #Popping #Popcorn or -when Popping the Cork on an Effervescent (and/or Carbonated) Beverage), or an abbreviation of Popular (used as the name of a Genre of Music, -Art or -Culture), or an American shortening of the word Papa, one of whom 'invented' the |Ice Cream on a |Stick known as the Popsicle)---notably (probably the reason it's used in the name) #PopUp is a common word for modern toasters.
The word |Tarts| is built either on ancient words that mean "to |Twist" (for the Small Pie) or -on ancient words that mean "to |Split, |Flay, |Peel" (for the Sharp Taste) or -on a shortening of |Sweetheart (pet name for a |Prostitute, |Immoral Woman ... if not British slang #JamTart, an Attractive Woman).

Well, I've not seen any "historical documentation" that says that's the origin of the name ... except that they are 'Tarts,' and 'Pop' is what you do with them (as seen in the classic commercial):
... maybe I was thinking of 'the Pringles commercial'

You can see from one of the commercials there that 'eating them however you feel like' isn't a "new" feature of pop-tarts; but here's 'the news' I got on a box I've just finished:
NO MATTER HOW YOU LOVE `EM
  • straight from the foil
  • toasted (obviously AFTER you take them out of the foil)
  • STACKED (obviously AFTER you take them out of the foil)
  • Frozen (obviously AFTER you take them out of the foil)
"WAITING FOR YOUR MOUTH TO COOL" beats "WAITING FOR YOUR TART TO COOL"

"FULLY BAKED & READY TO EAT! OR HEAT, OR FREEZE, OR STACK ..."

REMOVE FROM FOIL BEFORE HEATING
    FOR TOASTER
  1. TOAST ON LOWEST SETTING
  2. LET COOL BEFORE EATING
    FOR MICROWAVE
  1. PUT ON MICROWAVE-SAFE PLATE
  2. HEAT 3 SECONDS AT A TIME UNTIL WARM ENOUGH
  3. LET COOL BEFORE EATING
FOR FREEZER (okay, it never says you have to unwrap it before you pop it in; but I'd worry about the foil sticking to the tart)
  1. PUT POUCH IN FREEZER
  2. WAIT 20 MINUTES
  3. ENJOY THAT FROSTY TART!
