Why ... He was inspired to be a pilot because he grew up near a U.S.Army Air Force base—I don't know if this is 'why they started,' but I got started with them because of The Prosperity Gospel ... I think I've heard the KCM-ers claim repeatedly, "GOD WANTS YOU RICH!"
How (where I usually mess up): I guess Kenneth & Gloria got 'cut off' (from the abundance that had him flying in the military & in commercial air & recording music, and had her ... I dunno, being a rich guy's daughter ... maybe?) Kenneth tells about how he & Gloria were living in rent-control (or something) in Tulsa (Oklahoma) when they 'made the decision' to settle their ministry. The video below says 'God told Kenneth "on the bank of the Arkansas River" (tho I heard it was 'out behind their rent-control apartment') to "preach the Gospel from the top of the world to the bottom & all the way `round the middle—on EVERY AVAILABLE VOICE!"'
