The word “Husband” is built on “House + to Be, Exist, Grow (Bond, Peasant—possibly why he calls his wife a 'ball-and-chain' ... Dwell)” (Male Head-Master of a house, Married Man (in relation to his Wife), to Manage Thriftily, Steward, Farmer, Tiller of the Soil).
Or maybe I'm looking at it wrong—that's one reason
