#HappyBirthday, #April22 #BirthdayCohort (with #RyanStiles @whoseryanstiles & #SherriShepherd @SherriEShepherd & ALL the #FamousBirthdays @Bing lists)! on #OklahomaDay | @HolidaysCalendr @BirthdayMates @YourTango @MySundayMass @Movoto @UrbanDictionary @OnlyInYourState
Holidays Calendar explains 'why we celebrate #Oklahoma today (rather than November 16)' in a report you can access 'the bold word(s)' below; but first I want to teach you about those words. And I find you understand words better if you see 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum into their Foundation)
The word “Oklahoma” is built on Choctaw (Muskogee-an 'Native American' ("Injun")) words that mean “Nation, People + Red" (coined by Choctaw scholar and Presbyterian minister Allen Wright (1826-1885), later principal chief of the Choctaw Nation; and first used in the Choctaw-Chickasaw treaty of April 28, 1866).
I always thought "Okie" meant the same thing as "Oklahoman" (thanks mainly to the popularity of Proud to Be an Okie from Muskogee), but it might apply more broadly to any "Migrant Agricultural Worker" ever since John Steinbeck's "The Grapes of Wrath" (1939):
"Okie use' ta mean you was from Oklahoma.
Now it means you're a dirty son-of-a-bitch."
Looking-up the spelling of 'Oklahoma Cityan,' I also found some interesting pages:

- 20 Words Oklahomans mean Differently (like 'the N-word' when you're black ... but none of them are so-offensive, I think)
It 'thrills me' a little that I have the same birthday as several famous people, and enough other people get that thrill from seeing their birthday-cohort (both the currently-famous & the probably-not-yet famous) that I figure it's worth doing 'one of these entries for every birthday' ...
This Day's Birthday-Cohort
Astrologically, their sign is Taurus (in the wake of Aries) ... no matter WHICH stars they were born under: Jack Nicholson, Glen Campbell, J. Robert Oppenheimer, Prophet Muhammad, Vladimir Lenin, Immanuel Kant, Peter Frampton, Sherri Shepherd, Byron Allen, Ryan Stiles, Charles Mingus, Aaron Spelling
... and many others (most of whom are at the 'Birthday-Cohort' link)---
you might comment telling why we should recognize a special one I missed ...
