The word “Believe (Belief)” is built on–not 'Know' or 'Agree' or 'Accept as True or -Possible'–but “to Deeply Care, Desire, Love" (kinda changes the meaning behind Jesus Christ's "For God so loved the world ... whosoever believeth (πιστεύων) in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life" - maybe you don't have to 'think that Lord Jesus actually existed,' but just 'know that Your Chosen Guide Leads you to Your Highest Goal!') 
That Greek word (πιστεύων) can also be translated Entrust, have Faith in, Pass; the Hebrew יַאֲמִ֔ינוּ can also mean Confirm, Support.
