The word “Vigilante” is built on ancient words that mean "to be Strong, be |Lively" (supporting words that mean "Awake, Watchful, Watchman, Vigil, Careful, Anxious" ... I'm not sure how it came to mean "Revenge Seeker," except that one typically becomes a Vigilante in Response to a Traumatic |Trespass done against them---working a kind-of Vengeance by Protecting Others from |Similar |Trespasses).
