National Today explains the rise of #Blink182 in a report you can access through 'the emboldened link(s)' below; but first I want to teach you about those words. And I find you understand words better if you see 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum into their Foundation)
The name “Blink-182” is from ... well, I guess the #Blink is just 'the word they chose' (after names like Duck Tape and Figure 8), since 'that's all that their decades/years/months/"15 Minutes of Fame" will amount-to in the infinite eternity of time ... "Blink & you Miss it," no?'
The "meaningless (except that June 30th is the 182nd day of the year)" 182 is tacked-on because an already-established band in Ireland was named Blink, and our boys' record-company didn't want to mess with the legal issues,
(Oh; there are tons of theories about it; some favorites include "it's the number of times Al Pacino said 'a word that Blink is a euphemism-for' in Scarface," "it's the band-members' average-weight," "it's the number of the ship on which a member’s grandfather served in the Marines, "it's actually 'eighteen two,' code for 'RB,' the initials of the name of high-school's rival high-school (making 'announcement of the band's name' essentially an instruction to 'F--- our childhood opposition!' and not in a good way)" ... have you heard any?)
The word "Blink" is built on ancient words that mean "to Shine, Flash, Burn" (influencing/influenced-by "a |Brief Gleam, Spark, Move Suddenly or |Sharply, Raise the Eye|lids, Deceive").
