Well, I say I'm Libertarian (in support of Liberal business practices & Conservative government). I believe in Democracy--the writers of The Declaration of Independence do introduce themselves as "We the People"--but our system of government is a Republic---"a Republic, if you can keep it" (Ben Franklin's reply when reporters asked him what 'the Founding Fathers' had made).
And--after we elect people to Re-public (i.e. to stand for 'the general population') in the assembled legislature--our Re-presentatives remain people (no, we don't assimilate them into the government cyborg 😄)
