Holidays Calendar explains anniversary (of Mickey Mouse's special day) in a report linked through 'that name' below; but first I want to understand that name better. And I find you understand words better if you look at 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum)
Mickey Mouse was the name Walt Disney gave to the main character in "Steamboat Willy" when his wife Lily expressed dislike of the name he suggested first (Mortimer Mouse ... and actually, the character's name was 'Willy' who was a parody of Mickey/Mortimer).
#Mickey (& #Mick #Micky #Mike #Mikey #Mikki) is a diminutive of #Michael (& #Micheal #Mikael #Makayla #Mckayla #Michaela #Mikayla #Mikkel #Micael #Mikael #Michiel #Maikel #Michel #Michal #Mikhael #Micha #Michi #Mica ...), built on ancient words that mean "Who Is Like God? (thought to be a rhetorical question--because "there is none like God"--but one can easily mistake it for an adjectival-phrase (Uncle, 'who is like God') if one does not know the Hebrew phraseology which makes it obvious that מִיכָאֵל (Mikha'el) can only be a question).
I sometimes get a little 'thrill' from realizing that I have the same birthday as several famous people, and enough other people get that thrill from seeing their birthday-cohort (both the currently-famous & the probably-not-yet famous) that I figure it's worth doing 'one of these entries for every birthday' ...
