#DidYouKnow that #NationalCADday (the #August2 holiday) is also #HappyBirthday to #EdwardFurlong @edwardf34 & #KevinSmith (yes, @thatKevinSmith) & a WHOLE #BirthdayCohort ?? | @411Holidays @BirthdayMates #TheFamousPeople @YourTango @MySundayMass
And it's also 'whichever of these holidays & or event-anniversaries you choose to celebrate!'
National #CAD Day explains the origin of the holiday in a report linked through 'that word' below; but first I want to understand that word better. And I find you understand words better if you look at 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum)
CAD (though it is a word (see below)) stands for Computer-Aided #Design (I think ... the blog CELEBRATING IT didn't say when I posted this, and there are LOTS of possible acronyms).
The word “Cad” (a person lacking in finer feelings ... originally referring to a Servant, then (by University-Students) to Townies (Town Boys, Townsmen), then to Snobs) is short for #Cadet (Caddie).
The word "Cadet" is built on words that mean Little- or Younger |Chief or -Head.
The word "Design" is built on ancient words that mean "to Mark-, Sign Out." #Designed #Designing #Designate #Designer #Designation #Redesign
I sometimes get a little 'thrill' from realizing that I have the same birthday as several famous people, and enough other people get that thrill from seeing their birthday-cohort (both the currently-famous & the probably-not-yet famous) that I figure it's worth doing 'one of these entries for every birthday' ...
Today's Birthday-Cohort
Astrologically, their sign is Leo ... no matter WHICH stars they were born under: Edward Furlong, Sam Worthington (two stars of two different TERMINATOR-movies), movie-producer Wes Craven, Judge Lance Ito, Victoria Jackson, Max Wright (from something you've seen, I'm sure), Kevin Smith (Jay's friend Silent Bob), Peter O'Toole, Carroll O'Connor (Archie Bunker in All in the Family; but I remembered him as the Chief from In the Heat of the Night), talk-show host Dennis Prager, Andrew Gold (who wrote the song "Thank You for Being a Friend," used as the theme of The Golden Girls) ... and lots more I don't recognize (maybe you do recognize some ... you can find the date at the birthday-cohort link)
(and--if you or someone you know about has a birthday today
--please mention them (and how you know them or -know
about them) in the comments, thanks)
