#Microsoft Edge meets Google #Chrome in one Browser (theoretically): #ChromiumEdge | @Microsoft @Google | #ium
I explain how it gets a little mixed-up in a forum linked through 'that name' below; but I feel it's more important to understand those names better. And I find that you understand names better when you look at the words at their base ...
The name “Microsoft” (developer of the Edge-browser) is a portmanteau of Micro|Processor & Software.
he name “Chrome” (chosen as the name of the browser for it's association with Speed (like Shiny, Fast Cars & Technology), its function in minimizing Web-|Design 'Chrome' (Tabs, |Menus) to focus on Content, and association with |Chromatic, #Chroma) is built on ancient words that mean "Color." #Chromic #Polychrome
The name “Chromium” (the open source Microsoft-counterpart to Google Chrome) is another name for the material called 'Chrome' (making me think of the way the British pronounce Aluminum---'Aluminium,' because ... I guess that's the way they think they should pronounce the names of metallic elements (like |Titanium, Lithium, etc.).
