I heard about it on 'my source for The News'---(a) Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

But a 'real' report on the name-change is linked through 'the main words' below. I find that you understand words better when you look at the other words at the first words' bases ...
The name “Aunt Jemima” comes from "Old Aunt #Jemima" (an old |minstrel show featuring players in |blackface wearing |aprons & |bandana headbands ... especially featuring one particular ' |Mammy' (word for Female Former-Slaves who were content to stay Employed by their Former-|Masters)). 
The name “Jemima” is built on ancient words that mean |Dove. 
The name “Pearl Milling Company” was apparently the name of the group that had some extra pancake-flour which Quaker Oats bought and repackaged with the Aunt Jemima brand. 
They seem too 'obsessed with the fact that it's no-longer “Aunt Jemima”' to waste any time telling us 'why the new name is #Pearl' (other than 'that was the name of the original #Milling Company ... I asked, and will probably hear back soon (or they already replied, and I just haven't checked that email); but if you know, you can tell me in the comments).

And it's funny how 'Aunt Jemima' still pulls up about five
 pages of search-results on Amazon's Gourmet Food retail ...

... but something that Colbert noticed is that the boxes still mention 'Aunt Jemima'! He compared it to 'if newly desegregated water-fountains had signs on them that stated "same water as the whites-only fountains!"'
