The @RealDLHughley would "Rather Be a (#NWord, the early American Slang for #Negro) than a #Slave" @ItsSamG @hulu #Negroid #Slavery #TheNWord #Enslave
A Canadian comedian whom I follow (on Twitter) comments:
Meanwhile, black-people (and Asians and Mexicans, now that I think of it) ... their races' racial stereotypes are practically a pillar of their routines!Someone told me that white people can’t make jokes about white people and my first thought was “well that’s not fair...I mean, have you met white people?”
That reminded me of 'this post I've been wanting to do'—looking at the base of the word #Nigger (that's currently 'a censored word' (bleeped-out by network-broadcast-TV)), a word which 'ancient' Americans used to refer to 'blacks' (the P.C. term is "African-Americans," but I don't know if any of them have even been to Africa ... calling them 'African' is almost unpatriotic!)
D.L. Hughley brings up 'Nigger' in a comedy-special, saying–with much-much better timing (set-up dialogue, etc)–that he doesn't mind being called that as long as he still (unlike the people to whom the word originally applied—the slaves) gets to 'get in his car and drive to his house' afterward.
'Those words' (below-hyperlinked to your opportunity to watch D.L.'s special FOR FREE with your subscription to hulu) are built on even-deeper sources ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...
The word “Nigger (slang for 'Negro')” is built on ancient words that mean "Black, Dark, |Sable, |Dusky" (tho 'other blacks' can inoffensively use the word (usually pronounced 'Nigga') to mean "Brother (or Sister, I imagine)" ... also related to |Gloomy, UnLucky, |Bad, Wicked and maybe Night).
The word “Slave” is built on ancient words that mean "Slav" (as the Slavs were taken as Chattel by People who Conquered them).
Know anything else interesting about that? Comment!
