Bing Rewards tells me today that the Children's Television Workshop's TV-show Sesame Street turned 50 (years old).

Why did they name it "Sesame Street"? The story goes that they took the name from 'the magic words' ("Open Sesame") that call out 'a whole buncha fun stuff.'

'That phrase' (that opened a cave where thieves hid their treasure) comes from Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves—probably because sesame seeds were thought to have 'magical properties' (on account of the long seeds'loudly  popping when they dried).

That word' is built on an even-deeper source ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which the our lexicon stands ...

The word “|Sesame|” is built on words that mean “Oil |Seeds.”

The test (hyperlinked at 'Sesame' above) tells me that my Sesame Street character is (like 13% of test-takers) "Count Von Count":
... you're analytical, cerebral, and — some might say — compulsive. For you, there is a philosophical reason for everything, and you can work your way through any problem. While initially, your intellect can appear to be off-putting, your personality — and humor — shine through, earning you a cadre of friends who share your passion for numbers.
The test there might tell you that you are a:

  • Grover (like 22% of test-takers)
  • Elmo (like 13% of test-takers)
  • Oscar the Grouch (like 4% of test-takers)
  • Abby Cadabby (like 26% of test-takers)—the name's obviously a pun on 'Abracadabra,' but you know the Muppet-gang was often 'medicated' with a Dab-or-Two!
  • Cookie Monster (like 22% of test-takers)
    • I don't know if any of the other characters were considered "possible characters" (the test didn't list 'Bert & Ernie' or Big Bird or Snuffleupagus or Zoe or Rosita or Telly Monster or Baby Bear or Murray Monster or Herry Monster or Kermit the Frog or Prairie Dawn or Guy Smiley or Two-Headed Monster or Betty Lou or Slimey the Worm or The Amazing Mumford or Mr. Johnson or Sherlock Hemlock or Grundgetta or The Twiddlebugs or Honkers or Dingers or Biff or Sully or Barkley or Rodeo Rosie or Little Jerry or Little Chrissy or Deena or Dr. Nobel Price or The Countess or Gladys the Cow or Hoots the Owl or Alice Snuffleupagus or Natasha or Humphrey or Ingrid or Benny Rabbit or Yip Yips or Sherry Netherland or Horatio the Elephant or Roxie Marie or Narf or Mel or Phoebe or Joe Hundred Guy or Ovejita or Herbert Birdsfoot or Sonny Friendly or Rubber Ducky or Professor Hastings or Donald Grump or Papa Bear or Mama Bear or Curly Bear or Flo Bear or Louie or Mae or Daisy or Elmo's Grandma & Grandpa or Cookie Monster's Mommy & Dad & Sister & Grandma or Granny Bird or Sam the Robot or Herry Monster's Mother & Father & Grandmother and Grover's Mommy or Jamie Fox or Gordon & Susan Robinson or Bob Johnson or Luis & Maria Rodriguez or Gina Jefferson or Alan or Chris Robinson or Mr. Hooper or David or Linda the Librarian or Ruthie or Celina or Carlo) as "characters that other people got")
