#HappyBirthday to Y'all (in the #January13 #BirthdayCohort with #JuliaLouisDreyfus @OfficialJLD & #OrlandoBloom @OrlandoJB_Bloom & ALL the #FamousBirthdays @Bing lists) on #NationalRubberDuckyDay | @HolidaysCalendr @BirthdayMates @YourTango @MySundayMass @CopelandNetwork

... or -on 'whichever of these holidays, awareness-dates &/or event-anniversaries you celebrate!'

Holidays Calendar explains our celebration of the #RubberDucky in a report linked through 'that word' below; but first I want to understand that word better. And I find you understand words better if you look at 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum)

The Rubber Ducky (a.k.a. #RubberDuckie) is a Floating Toy (for the Bath|tub) fashioned in the shape of a #Duck.
The word “Duck (\ #Ducky #Duckie #Ducks #Duckling #DuckBill #DuckDuckGoose #DuckHunt #SittingDuck #DuckWalk #DuckSoup #DucksAndDrakes (name of the practice of skipping flat rocks on a lake) #DucksAss (bad haircut))” is built on ancient words that mean "a #Ducker," built (along with #Ducked #Ducking #DuckUnder) on ancient words that mean "to Dip, Dive" (|Dodge).
ducks-&-drakes (although usually (now) that's an expression of "throwing things around recklessly")
But the toy's name might be influenced by the use of "Ducky" as a term of endearment, built on ancient words that mean "Doll, Puppet, Woman's |Breast."
Duck is also sailors' name for Sail-|Fabric (built on ancient words that mean Linen Cloth ... the material that was used to make the first #DuctTape, which really was called #DuckTape).

I sometimes get a little 'thrill' from realizing that I have the same birthday as several famous people, and enough other people get that thrill from seeing their birthday-cohort (both the currently-famous & the probably-not-yet famous) that I figure it's worth doing 'one of these entries for every birthday' ...

This Day's Birthday-Cohort

Astrologically, their sign is Capricorn ... no matter WHICH stars they were born under: Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Andrew Yang, Orlando Bloom, Trace Adkins, Patrick Dempsey, Liam Hemsworth, Robert Stack (host of the classic TV-series UNSOLVED MYSTERIES, Eliot Ness of the classic TV-series THE UNTOUCHABLES), Richard Moll (bailiff of Night Court), more-recent show-runner Shonda Rhimes, Michael Peña, Rip Taylor

... and many others (most of whom are at the 'Birthday-Cohort' link)---

you might comment telling why we should recognize a special one I missed ...

Or maybe you'd like a reminder of 'where you've seen one of the ones we DO mention'; Ask in your comment!

I haven't gotten my Heart of the Nation calendar (which tells me which celebrations we (Catholics) are celebrating, and which color Vestments the clergy are wearing); so I look at my KCM 2022 Calendar, which tells us that today's the day to read Genesis 24:50-26:11 & Matthew 9 (if we're sticking to the plan to read the whole Bible in a Year)
