Watching TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY (the last 'canon' TERMINATOR-movie, in my opinion), I noticed a lot of new 'tidbits' that I hadn't before.

Chief among these was the warning that ... well, I'll get to that; but first, |that word| seems important. I found out a little more about |that word| and share my findings with you below (and I link to the topic that brought the word up, and might discuss it beneath (and/or you might start a discussion in the comments)).
The word |Warning| (Notice Beforehand of the Consequences that will probably Follow Continuance in some particular Course) is built on the proto-word *wer- "to Cover" (evolving into ancient words that mean "take Heed, Admonish, Given Notice of Impending Danger").

And--in case this discussion would SPOIL the movies' plot--some space for a SPOILER ALERT ...

You remember that--in THE TERMINATOR--a robot was sent back in time to kill the mother of John Connor---'the leader of The Resistance' (against The Machines). But it was stopped by a member of The Resistance who also went back in time to warn her of the danger ... and to impregnate her WITH John Connor.

... inspiring some speculation ...

In TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY, the machines send another 'robot' (more like "a mimetic polyalloy" ... 'nano-technology' that opened my eyes to one of The Warnings) to kill the now-teenaged John Connor, whose adult Resistance-Leader self had captured the previous model of Terminator (the make that had tried to kill his mother) and had reprogrammed it to go back in time & protect him from the new Terminator.

(The rest of the sequels are--RISE OF THE MACHINES, SALVATION, GENESYS, DARK FATE--mostly 'alternate versions of T2'---speculations on 'what The Machines (SkyNet) would do after their last failure, and how humans would make SkyNet fail again.'

The 'warnings' James Cameron gave us include:
  • of course the one that Sarah Connor spelled out (talking to the guy who would help INVENT SkyNet in the future)
  • the nano-technology of the mimetic poly-alloy made me wonder, 'aren't WE such a technology? I mean, not as manipulative of-course; but a bunch of cells whose only programming parameter is LIFE (accomplished by fulfilling whatever instructions our programmers give us)'
    • So who's to say ... maybe TERMINATOR is just 'another understanding of the creation of the human race'---humans are made up of a form of nano-technology remaining from when the T-1000 was dissolved in the fiery forge!
  • The T-101's name is Uncle Bob.
