The 'innocent' Archetype (a.k.a. The #Dreamer) ... according to #individualogyDotCom | #Dream #Dreamers #Dreams #Dreamt #Dreamed #Dreamy #Undreamed

I summarize Individualogist.com's review of the 12 archetypes in a post accessed through 'the bold hyperlink(s)' below; but first I want to teach you about those words. And I find you understand words better if you see 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum into their Foundation)

The word “Dreamer” (another name for The Innocent ... #DayDream #Dreamboat #Dreamland #Dreamless #Dreamscape #DreamWorld #PipeDream #WetDream #Dreamers #DreamGirl) is probably built on ancient words that mean "Deception, Illusion, |Phantasm, to Seek to |Harm, Injure, Lie" (Delude, Ghost, Apparition).

Individualogist summarizes The Innocent archetype:

THE INNOCENT

The Innocent archetype is typically naive and easily impressed by anything and everything, making them brilliant audiences for performances. However, their naivety is not what defines them. The Innocent archetype is best defined by its sheer positivity and optimism.

  • Slogan: Live life with full optimism
  • Deepest Desire: To realize one’s sense of paradise
  • Goal: To attain true happiness
  • Fear: Breaking the rules and being punished
  • Strategy: To do what’s morally and ethically right
  • Weaknesses: Being perceived as boring or naive
  • Talents: Unbreakable sense of optimism and having great faith
and also describes it more-fully:

Innocent

As an Innocent, you will find yourself as someone who’s naturally gifted to lead. Like an emphatic politician, your ideas can inspire others to take action. In fact, your presence alone is enough to move others towards the right path.

Furthermore, you also possess a unique kind of wisdom – the unadulterated mind. Whereas other archetypes see life from a mixed or even negative perspective, you see life’s essence itself, which is goodness.

Thus, you seek this goodness for all. You never limit progress for yourself alone as you understand the interconnectedness of everyone. People around you will see this inner desire for good as they follow in your footsteps.

Basic Qualities

Extrovert

You are:

  • Likeable/Cheerful
  • Confident
  • Energetic
  • Thill-seeking/Daring
  • Gregarious

As an extrovert, you exude positive energy. You confidently carry that contagious power to do things. You are never afraid of your flaws, for you understand that it is part of who you are. Instead, you take pride in your battle scars, constantly signifying your challenges and the accolades that come with them.

More importantly, you are also thrill-seeking and daring. This means that you’re determined to constantly try new things out. Finally, being gregarious necessitates being with others. As an extrovert, you thrive in expressing yourself to those around you, as their attention gives validation to your own identity.

Things to pay attention to:

  • Boredom levels
  • Co-dependency
  • Self-centeredness
  • Lack of Identity
  • External Verification of Self-Esteem

Being an extrovert, you are prone to the possible weaknesses mentioned above. For one, you have the tendency to be self-centered. Since you seek your own happiness above all else, those around you can sometimes become a tool instead of a companion.

The same also holds true as you search for self-validation. Relying on people’s praises and appreciation may bite your back, as they can also subtly shape who you are. Left unchecked, these traits may lead you farther from knowing yourself, as you unknowingly allow others to shape your reality.

We-Centeredness

You are:

  • Altruistic
  • Cooperative
  • Moralistic
  • Empathetic
  • Optimistic

We-centeredness means that you allow others to become part of your reality. Because you seek to strongly integrate your existence with those around you, you shape your goals in a way that helps them as well. With that, you take into account how others think and feel.

Furthermore, you also consider the moral implications of your own choices in conjunction with your relationships with others. Instead of simply deciding on your own, this basic quality perceives your existence as contextualized by the people around you. Thus, this leads to a more optimistic role, especially when you’re seeking the common good.

Things to pay attention to:

  • Perceiving self-boundaries
  • Lack of assertiveness
  • Becoming a people pleaser
  • Relying on others for growth

Integrating yourself with others also has its own set of consequences. Because you identify yourself as part of a group, your growth and identity are also defined by this collective. And when it is filled with toxic waters, this can unwittingly cloud who you are.

Add to that, an unchecked we-centeredness means that you’ll allow people to take advantage of you. Just as abusers control altruistic individuals, your lack of assertiveness will lead to many problems for you. Ranging from lack of self-esteem to becoming overly submissive, you’ll become a puppet without you knowing it.

Intuitive

You are:

  • Sensing
  • Open
  • Adaptable
  • Trusting
  • Spiritual

Relying on your powers of intuition, you are likely to see things from a transcendental point of view. Instead of simply relying on facts, you understand that life goes beyond the laws of reason and logic. Thus, this allows you to unmask the inner workings that go beyond the five senses.

With this, you understand that not everything makes sense. Whereas other archetypes are often limited by reason, you are able to go beyond it and access your spiritual prowess. This, in turn, makes you more adaptable to varying circumstances, often offering insight that others lack.

Things to pay attention to:

  • Subjectivism
  • Confusion
  • Disorderliness
  • Gullibility

Because you rely on your intuition a tad too much, you are prone to becoming subjective. Whereas your gut feel can sometimes lead you to the right thing, it won’t always do. One day, the chickens will come home to roost as the consequences of your decisions will pay out negatively.

Often, this manifests in confusion and gullibility. Since you’ve accustomed yourself to spirituality, you might end up being conned by others. Taking advantage of your beliefs and baseless thinking, others will end up tricking you into things that you would’ve otherwise avoided.

Turbulent

You are:

  • Humorous
  • Understanding
  • Spiritually deep
  • Self-improver

Turbulence is often perceived negatively. After all, this relates to the idea on one’s emotional instability. However, turbulence isn’t always as bad as people put it to be. Instead, this basic quality empowers a different kind of drive – one that digs deeper towards oneself.

In general, people are turbulent primarily because they’ve established a strong connection with their emotions. Because of this, they become emotional. In a positive way, this allows them to relate with others well, as turbulent individuals can better grasp how things are going.

Things to pay attention to:

  • Poor emotional regulation
  • Anxiety
  • Depressive symptoms
  • Indecisiveness

Problems often arise as a result of your unstable emotions. For one, dealing with others can be problematic as the slightest irritation can result to unprecedented conflict. Unable to manage your reactions well, you can become feisty or even aggressive towards them.

Clouding your judgment, turbulence can lead you to become indecisive.  If not, bottling in your emotional dissonance can lead to an endless swirl of internal problems. Manifesting in forms of anxiety and/or depression, your inability to regulate how you feel can accumulate negative feelings deep within.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths

Sociable

Like the Jester, you are highly sociable. However, the reason is different – it is your positive aura that draws people in. Whereas the Jester excites others by cracking jokes and aiming to make them happy, you exude that undying optimism that makes people believe in themselves.

This strength often goes underrated. When people communicate and socialize, there’s this underlying notion that they compare themselves with others. And the sad reality is this – some (or even most) of us find a twisted sense of self-worth when others are in a lower position. Why do you think people love watching reality TV shows? Why are people entertained with the suffering and struggles of others?

Empathetic

As a we-centered archetype, you are empathetic. You easily relate to the situation of others since you see them in relation to your own. You’re never trapped in your own bubble as you relate to the world in ways that you can. Thus, you constantly reach out to help and inspire those around you.

Add to that, this empathetic nature also allows you to see the situation for what it is. Oftentimes, your archetype is criticized for being naïve and unrealistic. However, experienced Innocents can use their empathy to ground themselves and make sure that they’re standing on a firm footing.

Self-Improver

Unlike other archetypes, you stand out as a self-improver. Stemming from your turbulent personality, you are always emphatically moved by your own inaptness. Meaning, when a situation arises, and you’re unable to do something, this angers you and moves you to take action.

Doing everything necessary, you will stop at nothing in order to gain the skills that you need. This will require time and dedication on your end, but it won’t faze you from moving forward.

Trusting

As an Innocent, your intuitive nature allows you to be trustful. Generally, what this means is having that inner faith that things will work. From having that trust in systems, having confidence in your peers, or even counting on yourself, your ability to trust is second to none.

With this strength, you’ll find it easier to face and conquer challenges that are naturally bigger than you. Since you have an inner trust that things will work out fine, you’re never afraid to cross borders and challenge stereotypes. This creates a dynamic personality in you, something that attracts others to take action as well.

Weaknesses

Need for External Validation

Your extrovertness leads to one crucial flaw: your tendency to become dependent. Since extroverts gain validation through the recognition of others, the lack of it can also equate to a plethora of existential problems. As an Innocent, this translates to you needing others to agree with you. Since you are seeking what’s best for all, you tend to gauge your successes on their approval.

This apparent weakness challenges your resilience. Sometimes, those around you are just too much, such that even when you’re doing the best you can, you just can’t positively influence their perspectives. Such can frustrate you in ways that you can’t acknowledge right away, shattering the foundation of your confidence and kind-heartedness.

Gullible

Since you act based on intuition, as an Innocent, you tend to become gullible. This surfaces when you are seeking a naïve viewpoint – the utopia. As soon as someone sells you this dream, you will wholeheartedly buy it if you’re not cautious. In the end, it can lead to a spiral of traps that will prevent you from moving forward.

To be fair, gullibility is a consequence of your intuitive attitude. Since you prefer feeling things out instead of rationally assessing them, you can easily be swayed. However, such weakness is often displayed by the unrefined Innocent. While it is true that you are searching for the best solutions for everyone, a seasoned Innocent will be able to tell what’s real from what’s not.

People Pleaser

Let’s face it, the Innocent is a people pleaser. They are the types who’ll do everything to get the best outcome but may annoy others in the process. With their over-enthusiastic approach, some may feel that the Innocent isn’t authentically helping others, especially when the Innocent is pursuing a Utopian goal. People may perceive this as selling a dream that will never happen.

In the long run, this weakness will get the best of you. In helping others, your actions will not always reflect what they want. Even when you give them the best circumstances, their negative mindset can still win over your good intentions. In turn, they will perceive you as someone trying to win them over, which can translate into people-pleasing actions on your end.

Indecisive

Turbulence in your archetype manifests as indecisiveness. With your emotionally swinging nature, indecisiveness happens, especially when you’re forced to choose between the two best options. As you try to weigh things, you unintentionally delay and leave room for doubt.

What’s even trickier is when you’re forced to pick the lesser evil. At times, moral situations can lead you to select between two things, even when you disagree with both. Hanging on that nagging feeling, you tend to keep delaying, hoping for a miracle to happen.

Romantic Relationships

Trusting

Due to your Turbulent nature, you tend to trust your partner in a snap. Whereas other archetypes need to constantly verify things, you are inclined to allowing your gut to lead the way.

This tendency is certainly tricky. Whereas trust is ultimately necessary for a healthy relationship, it can also act as a double-edged sword. Just as how trust can easily be broken by the smallest of lies, such a tendency of yours can become detrimental if left unchecked.

Grateful

Gratefulness is often an underrated tendency in relationships. In a world filled with instant gratification and unwarranted entitledness, some feel that we automatically deserve love and must be served on a silver platter. If not, this market-driven society allows us to purchase such love using money as a currency.

But as a genuine lover, you exhibit gratefulness. And by this, what we mean is outright voicing out how much you appreciate being on the receiving end. As your partner prepares surprises for you, you’re never short of words and actions to express how lucky you are to receive them.

Friendships

Placing others first

One key trait of your archetype is the fact that you seek to place others before yourself. Similar to the Caregiver, you embody that altruistic tendency as a result of your we-centeredness. Although, it is important to note that you exhibit this tendency in far different ways.

For instance, you are the type to never settle for less. Whereas other archetypes are quick to prioritize their self-interest, you always make sure that nobody is counted out. Though challenging, you will always seek what’s best for everyone, even if it means thinking out of the box and innovating something new.

Passionate

As an archetype, you are one of those who’d go out to the streets and rally with your ideals. Coming from your extroverted nature, you are confident and vocal about what you think is right and are willing to share it with those around you. As such, these same principles apply to how you deal with your friends, given how you’re always the passionate one in the room.

Being an Innocent, you are the type who tends to be a loud, talkative, and energetic friend. You’re never short of that explosive energy, often allowing you to become the life of the party. In fact, your absence in group gatherings is often felt, even when you’re not aware of it.

Workplace Habits

Loves to Reach Out

In the workplace, an Innocent love to reach out. Naturally inclined to help those around them, Innocents won’t think twice in giving their co-worker a hand. As an Innocent, you are likely to exhibit this habit and will be willing to even guide team members towards achieving the tasks.

Generally, your ability to empower your team is what sets you apart. By reaching out to them in ways that other archetypes can’t, your sheer willpower and optimism can make your team overachieve things. Even when they’re not really prepared, they will be compelled to, as your contagious energy will power through them.

Works well with teams

Other archetypes are just more suited to work alone. But for the Innocent, they recognize that they won’t get the tasks done alone. Thus, they always seek out help in any way they can, not because they simply want to rely on others but because they seek to build a culture of sharing and reciprocity.

With this group-orientedness, you are able to exhibit your extrovertness in a positive way. Being an Innocent, you do this by inspiring others to rally behind you. Meaning, when you exude that positive and contagious energy, you aren’t doing so in a way that offends others.

Constantly seeks Challenges

As a turbulent person, you are the type who constantly seeks challenges. In fact, the same also holds true in your workplace as you pursue new heights. After all, chasing the utopian dream entails going out of your comfort zone and into your courage zone.

For you, this is a manifestation of both your greatest strength and your biggest weakness – growth. More often than not, Innocents are counted out given how they can be too naïve and sheltered to take action. True enough, the unseasoned Innocent will be left in their own ideals, and never breaking them due to the fear of veering away from what they seek.

Dislikes repetitive work

While all jobs require some sort of repetition, the Innocent is simply an archetype who dislikes such. Well, the good news is, it doesn’t mean that you’re not up to it. You simply dislike it. For you, repetitive work is repulsive.

For instance, having that 9-to-5 desk job is either unacceptable or settling for the reality before you. Emphatic and idealistic, it would be a waste to simply place the Innocent in these jobs. Like an eagle that’s placed in a cage, this prevents you to spread your wings as your soar the sky.
